Elementary and Secondary. A teacher engaged during the school day in negotiating in behalf of the Association or participating in any professional grievance procedure with any representative of the Board shall be released from regular duties without loss of salary.
Elementary and Secondary. All teachers shall be entitled to a duty-free lunch period, as scheduled by the principals, equivalent to the students' lunch period. The teachers agree to meet with the secondary principal or his/her representative to set up a voluntary rotating schedule for inside supervision of the students during the lunch period.

If a teacher shall teach more than the normal teaching load, as set forth in this Article, he/she shall receive additional compensation at the rate of one-sixth (l/6) of one's daily rate of pay for each hour of classroom teaching assignment over the normal teaching load. If a teacher shall fail to teach a normal teaching load he or she shall receive reduced compensation at the rate of 1/6 of ones daily rate of pay for each hour of classroom teaching assignment under the normal teaching load.

When no substitute is available to replace an absent teacher, then a teacher in the building may be assigned, by the building administrator, the responsibility and shall be compensated at a rate of .001 of the Bachelor's base salary per hour for each hour in half-hour increments when he or she is fulfilling such assigned responsibility, other than his or her normal assignment. Except for a teacher who is assigned the sole responsibility of instructing all students of an absent teacher, when the assignment is for three (3) or more hours, the pay shall be at the rate of .003 of the Bachelor's base salary per day, or the minimum daily substitute deduction, whichever is greater. The exceptions to the above shall be department chairpersons required to substitute within their department during their scheduled department chairperson period, secondary teachers who have an unassigned period for that given day, and elementary personnel who do not have a regular student assignment.

Voluntary tutoring services and extended learning opportunities may occur in addition to the workday if the participating classroom and non-classroom educator is compensated at the Tutoring Hourly Assignment rate of pay. District tutoring funds distributed during Phase 1 may continue to fund the cost of the Tutoring Hourly Assignment rate of pay for educators conducting tutoring in addition to their workday, upon prior approval by the appropriate administrator. Such requests shall not be unreasonably denied.

Elementary and Secondary. Consultants will be used to assist district committees and leadership teams in evaluating the effectiveness of our Literacy and Math Initiatives. Consultants will also support coaching efforts in our schools, observing instruction and meeting with teachers to improve practice. Consultants will visit schools at the beginning, middle and end of each school year, assess the progress of our initiative in each classroom. Leadership teams will share reports and progress developed with our consultants with the school board each year. Consultants recommended and who may be used during the implementation of our initiatives include: Xxxx Xxxxxxxxxx from Cubed, LLC, for secondary literacy; Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxxx to evaluate the fidelity of our implementation; Xxx Xxxxxx may be helpful at Milford High School with the structure of blended learning offerings and reading initiatives; and Xxxxx Xxxxxx and Xxxxx Xxxxx from the SUU staff have who already provided helpful training for both elementary and secondary literacy instruction and will be instrumental in evaluating our program outcomes. In our budget plan for ARP XXXXX, the use of intervention aides at the secondary for literacy and the addition of aides in our elementary math programs, along with the professional learning and program support materials for both our literacy and mathematics initiatives will exceed the 20% of required evidence-based outcomes.
