EMAIL AND INTERNET USE a. Email accounts are provided by the school. Email correspondence will be utilized for educational purposes only. Electronic communication coming from or going to the school issued tablets can and will be monitored to make sure the terms of the agreement are being followed. Digital communications etiquette is expected by all students using all school provided communications accounts, sites, or applications including but not limited to wikis, blogs, forums, interactive video conferencing, podcasts, and online collaboration sites. b. As required by the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), an Internet filter is maintained by the district on the district’s wired and wireless network. THERE IS NO FILTERING OF INTERNET CONTENT ON STERLING HIGH SCHOOL TABLETS WHEN THEY ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE STERLING HIGH SCHOOL NETWORK AND ARE AWAY FROM SCHOOL GROUNDS. Parents are asked to discuss appropriate ground rules for use of the computer while away from school with their child to ensure that the child is supervised and using the tablet appropriately. It is the primary responsibility of the student to appropriately use the tablet, network, and the Internet. Sterling High School will not be responsible for any harm suffered while on the Internet or network. c. Students are required to notify building personnel if they access information or messages that are inappropriate, dangerous, threatening, or that make them feel uncomfortable. As part of our curriculum, students will be instructed about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking web sites and in chat rooms. We ask students to: a. Immediately report any unauthorized activity on the Internet or network. b. Notify a teacher immediately if they accidentally access an inappropriate site. c. Never read someone else’s email or open other’s folders or files without permission. d. Never use or transmit anything with racist, abusive, threatening, demeaning, slanderous, objectionable, sexually explicit, or inflammatory content. e. Never arrange to meet an unknown person. f. Observe all copyright laws; do not claim authorship of work copied from a web site or from any other source; accurately cite sources of information. g. Protect their accounts by keeping passwords secure and logging off or locking when not at a computer. EMAIL AND INTERNET USE. 25.1 In accordance with the Company Policy and within the bounds of the law, the Company reserves the right to monitor the Executive’s electronic communications on a regular basis (including during any notice period, if applicable) and to monitor and record logging and traffic information as well as actual content (including the content of personal email and internet sites visited) in the Company’s legitimate business interest, for example security or disciplinary reasons. All documents, communications and other files created, sent or received on email or through the internet or intranet are the Company’s property. 25.2 Upon request by the Company, the Executive must give the Company access to his Company PC, laptop, Blackberry or other electronic device provided by the Company. Failure to comply with such a request will be regarded as a serious breach by the Executive and may result in disciplinary action being taken against him, including dismissal without notice or pay in lieu of notice.

Filtering not only restricts access to unacceptable sites, but also restricts access to inappropriate materials of all kinds. Kingsway/South Xxxxxxxx Regional School Districts cannot guarantee that access to all inappropriate sites will be blocked. NO FILTER IS AS RELIABLE AS ADULT SUPERVISION! Log files are maintained on each Chromebook with a detailed history of all sites accessed. It is the responsibility of the user to appropriately use the Chromebook, network, and the Internet. EMAIL AND INTERNET USE. The Company’s computer network is the property of the Company and is to be used only for legitimate purposes. Employees are provided access to the computer network to assist them in the performance of their duties. Employees may also be provided with access to the Internet through the computer network. All Employees have a responsibility to use the Company’s computer resources and the Internet in a professional, lawful and ethical manner. Inappropriate use of the computer network or the Internet may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination, and civil and/or criminal liability.
