Equivalent Teaching Experience. Equivalent teaching experience, as stipulated in L7.03 c), may be recognized for placement on the "Salary Grid" at the discretion of the Director or designate. A member wishing to claim equivalent teaching experience must submit their documentation to the Board no later than five (5) calendar months after their initial hire date. The member may be granted an additional calendar month where the member can provide evidence that the member has initiated correspondence with employers to receive information related to equivalent teaching experience within twenty (20) working days of receipt of the Documentation for New Members. Copies of documentation in support of a decision regarding equivalent experience credits for newly hired members shall be provided to the President of the Bargaining Unit. Within thirty (30) days of hire, the Board shall notify new members in writing of the equivalent teaching provisions of the collective agreement, including information on the documentation required.
Equivalent Teaching Experience credit for grid experience does not accrue while a member is on extended leave, special leave, self-funded leave, or leave for Federal, Provincial and Municipal Elections per L12.12.3.
L13.01 Generation of FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) Staff
01.1 For the purposes of staffing in grades 9 to 12 (excluding E-Learning credit courses), the Board shall allocate a minimum staffing complement to achieve a maximum average class size consistent with prevailing class size regulations or twenty-three (23) in the absence of such regulations.
