Exchange Teachers Sample Clauses

Exchange Teachers. A leave of absence of up to one (1) year may be granted, upon Board approval, to any tenure teacher upon application, and acceptance thereof, for the purpose of participating in exchange programs in other states, territories, or countries, provided said teacher states intention to return to the school system for at least one year. Upon returning from such exchange program the teacher will be placed at the position on the salary schedule that would have pertained had the teacher taught in the district during such period.

Exchange Teachers. Teacher exchanges with other Districts in the United States or with English-speaking teachers from foreign countries may be authorized. Bargaining unit members granted such exchange privileges are expected to return to the service of the District after one (1) year of exchange and serve in the District for at least two (2) years. Arrangements are to be made on an individual basis by the administration with the approval of the Board.

District approval must be obtained by an employee prior to seeking participation in an exchange program and such approval will be granted only if specific conditions associated with the individual exchange are acceptable to the District and if the District program will not be harmed by the specific exchange being proposed.

The Committee encourages proposals indicating possible educational benefit to Methuen students by means of a Teacher Exchange program including a teacher with professional teacher status in Methuen and a teacher from outside the district and even from outside the United States.
