Tenure Review. 20.6.1 The Tenure Review Committee shall convene after the conference of the 4th year fall evaluation, regardless of rating, and shall make its recommendation by January 31 using the standard District form. 20.6.2 To the greatest extent possible the evaluators who served on the 4th year fall evaluation shall comprise the Tenure Review Committee. 20.6.3 The Tenure Review Committee's recommendation will be based on evidence of the faculty member's performance as reflected in all evaluations completed from the first semester of full-time employment through week 14 of the fall semester of the 4th year. Satisfactory evaluations are the basis for recommendation for tenure. The Tenure Review Committee shall be provided access to all materials included in the evaluation file within this timeframe. Faculty members recommended for tenure will reflect a standard of excellence in their performance of faculty duties and their interaction with students and colleagues. 20.6.4 The granting of tenure is a legal right of the Governing Board. Tenure Review. A. Intent 1. These procedures are presented as the minimum of evaluation activity required and should not be considered as restricting other evaluation activity. 2. These procedures shall be carried out on a professional basis which serves the best long-term interests of the faculty, and the institution. Committees shall observe the principles of confidentiality in their discussions and deliberations.
Tenure ReviewAll unit members employed in a position designated by the District as “tenure track,” and governed by the provision of California Education Code §87604 through §87609 shall be evaluated during the first years of their employment according to the policies, criteria, and procedures enumerated in this Article. Tenure track faculty hired on or after the 2018-2019 academic year, will follow the 2018-2021 contract tenure review process. Tenure track faculty hired during the 2016-2017 or 2017-2018 academic year, will follow the respective contract tenure review process.
Tenure Review. A. Intent - The master contract applies with the understanding that anyone who may want to come into SCCC to perform any type of review is subject to passing an NCIC background check. Tenure ReviewThe decision whether to grant or deny tenure, or extend the probationary period, is a duty of the Board that is discretionary, cannot be delegated, and is exclusively reserved to the Board. Nothing in this section or this Agreement shall be construed to limit the authority of the Board to terminate the employment of a probationary employee at any time, consistent with law. In order to assure that the Board has the opportunity to fully consider the qualifications of Association members, consistent with Illinois Public Community College Act, a Tenure Review Committee will be established for each tenure-eligible Association member hired. Hereafter, the Tenure Review Committee will be referred to as the Review Committee and the tenure-eligible Association member as the tenure candidate. This Review Committee will review the professional performance of the tenure candidate and make written recommendations with regard to granting or denying tenure. Upon initial hire, each tenure candidate will be assigned a Mentor (refer to 3.23) as well as a Review Committee composed of three (3) tenured faculty members, one (1) of which will be the department chair or designee (when chair is not available), and at least one (1) from outside the tenure candidate’s department. In all cases whenever possible, at least one (1) Review Committee member will have expertise in the subject content area in which the tenure candidate teaches. With approval of the Vice President of Instruction and the Association Executive Committee, the Review Committee may be reduced to two (2) tenured faculty members, one (1) of which must be the department chair or designee. Review Committee members are appointed by the Vice President of Instruction and the Association Executive Committee. The tenure candidate shall have input concerning the proposed Review Committee members. The Mentor and Review Committee shall be appointed during the first semester of the tenure candidate’s employment and shall continue with the tenure candidate through the completion of tenure review. The Mentor is not a member of the Review Committee. At any time during the tenure review period, additional persons may be added to a Tenure Review Committee. The number of Review Committee members shall be limited to four (4) tenured faculty members. Tenure Review. As with all other evaluations scheduled for Spring 2021, evaluation ratings will be based solely on subject matter content. a. The tenure review process for faculty members in years 2, 3, and 4 will proceed according to the provisions of Article 30. b. Faculty members in Year 1 of tenure review will have formal evaluations in Spring 2021, which will be included in the 2021-2022 tenure report. c. Regular and adjunct faculty evaluations.
