FUNDED LEAVES. 34.1 Applications using the Self-funded Leave form which has been jointly agreed to by the Board and the Federation, shall be submitted by 1 April, to begin the program the following school year, to the Leave Review Committee whose membership shall include the following:  2 representatives from the Board, and  2 representatives from the Federation.

A Review Committee will be established, consisting of the Superintendent of Human Resources or designee, the Bargaining Unit President or designee. Types of Leaves The teacher-funded leave shall afford a teacher the opportunity to enter into an agrement with the Board to take a one (1) year teacher-funded leave in year three four (4)or five (5) of an individual's five (5) year agreement. In each year of the plan in which the teacher works, the teacher agrees to be paid eighty percent (80%) of the salary normally paid to the teacher according to the Collective Agreement in effect for those periods. The remaining twenty percent (20%) shall be deposited into an account in the teacher's name. Where the leave is taken in year five (5) of the plan, the teacher shall be paid the amount in the deposit account plus any accrued interest. Where the leave is taken in the years three (3) or four the teacher shall receive payment at the same rate as year two (2) of the plan. The Review Committee may consider and recommend an individual teacher-funded plan which differs the standard four (4) over five (5) plan. Such leaves will occur in the last year, or portion of the year, of the plan. During the duration of the plan, the teacher agrees to be paid the pro-rated amount of the salary normally paid to the teacher according to the Collective Agreement in effect for those periods.   • Self-Funded Leave 25.2.1 An employee may apply to participate in the self funded leave plan as permitted under the Income Tax Act (Canada) in order to defer pre-tax salary dollars to fund a leave of absence. The deferral period must be at least one (1) year and not more than four (4) years.

  • Extended Leaves Extended leaves of absence of at least three (3) but not more than five (5) years may be granted in accordance with Minnesota Statutes § 136F.43. Notwithstanding any other section of this Agreement, retention and accrual of all rights and benefits for faculty on extended leave shall be governed by Minnesota Statutes § 136F.43. Faculty members shall be returned to the unit in accordance with Article 29, Section B, Subd. 1, and shall be returned to the salary schedule at the step at which they were placed when they left the unit, with accommodation for general increases in the indicated step. If the faculty member’s service to the university in the year the faculty member left the unit qualified for an increase in the succeeding year, then the faculty member shall be entitled to that increase upon return to the unit. Seniority shall not accrue during the years faculty members are on extended leave.

  • Self-Funded Leave Plan 26.01 The Self Funded Leave Plan has been developed to afford Employees the opportunity of taking up to one year leave of absence and, through deferral of salary, to finance the leave subject to the regulations under the Income Tax Act.

  • Extended Leave Extended leaves of absence of at least three (3) but not more than five (5) years may be granted in accordance with Minnesota law. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Agreement, retention and accrual of all rights and benefits for ASF Members on extended leave shall be governed by Minnesota Statute Section 136F.43.

  • EXTENDED LEAVES OF ABSENCE 1. Military leave without pay shall be granted to any employee who is inducted in any branch of the armed forces of the United States for the period of said service.

  • Maternity Leave Allowance (a) An employee who qualifies for maternity leave pursuant to Clause 26.01, shall be paid a maternity leave allowance in accordance with the Supplemental Unemployment Benefit (SUB) Plan, as set out in Letter of Understanding #1. In order to receive this allowance, the employee must provide to the Employer proof that the employee has applied for and is eligible to receive employment insurance benefits pursuant to the Employment Insurance Act. An employee disentitled or disqualified from receiving employment insurance benefits is not eligible for maternity leave allowance.

  • Formal Collective Bargaining Leave Leave without pay may be granted to participate in formal collective bargaining sessions authorized by RCW 41.80.

  • Extended Leave of Absence Professional employees who have attained renewable contract status may request extended leaves of absence for one (1) year without pay under any one of the circumstances listed in this section. All requests for such extended leave of absence will be applied for and granted or rejected in writing. Such application will be reviewed by the principal and superintendent. If the latter approves, he/she will recommend that the leave be granted by the Board. An employee returning from an extended leave will be assigned to the same position as that which he/she held before assuming the leave, providing that position still exists. By mutual agreement between the employer and the employees, he/she may be given a different assignment. Extended leaves of absence may be requested under, but not limited to, the following:

  • Illness Leave 1. Illness is defined as any pronounced deviation from a normal healthy state which makes it disadvantageous to the District and/or detrimental to the employee for him/her to be at work. This definition shall include emergency medical, dental, optical, and prosthetic work.

  • Parental Leave Allowance (a) An employee who qualifies for parental leave pursuant to Clause 26.02, shall be paid a parental leave allowance in accordance with the Supplemental Unemployment Benefit (SUB) Plan. In order to receive this allowance, the employee must provide to the Employer proof of application and eligibility to receive employment insurance benefits pursuant to the Employment Insurance Act. An employee disentitled or disqualified from receiving employment insurance benefits is not eligible for parental leave allowance.
