Personal Development a) Enrolling in Credit Courses University employees, who have a regular or current temporary appointment, may register in University courses at no cost. Such registration will be subject to admissions requirements and enrolment procedures which will be set from time to time by the Registrar (refer to Policy 33.01 and related procedures)
b) Enrolling in Professional Development and Training Courses Eligible University employees – as defined as an individual who is employed by Vancouver Island University for a minimum of three (3) months and only during the period of employment, or as determined on an individual basis by a long term Professional Development and Training instructor – will be allowed to enroll in one (1) non-credit or part-time vocational course per term, at no cost, subject to procedures which will be set from time to time by the relevant Professional Development and Training Department Coordinator at each campus.
c) Prior to enrolling in credit courses at Vancouver Island University which may conflict with work schedules, employees will require the approval of their administrative supervisor(s). Subject to operational needs the employees may rearrange their work schedule to enable them to attend such courses during their normal working hours, providing this results in no additional cost to the Employer. The employee shall initiate the request with their direct supervisor. Approval to attend shall not be unreasonably withheld.
d) A current copy of such Fee Exemption procedures relevant to Article 20.04 will be sent to the CUPE Recording Secretary.
Personal Development. This Agreement confirms the intention of all parties to work towards “total development” of all personnel. This will involve training and development such as communication skills, time management and supervisory development. These skill areas will be identified during the Skill Competency Reviews and assessment in accordance with National Competency Standards.
Personal Development. If an employee and the employee’s supervisor identify opportunities for growth and development (such as manager training) relating to identified career goals and committee work, the employee may submit a proposal to the Deputy Director and Division Director to have such training qualify as “directly related” to job requirements, which may be approved as “paid time” per LCOG Policy Manual Section 4.04, subject to the criteria as outlined in 27.1.

c) Prior to enrolling in credit courses at Vancouver Island University which may conflict with work schedules, employees will require the approval of their administrative supervisor(s). The University shall endeavor, where possible, to make available to members of the Bargaining Unit such opportunities for personal development as it considers it is able to provide. While this will remain solely within the discretion of the University, the University nevertheless agrees to take into account the wishes of members of the Bargaining Unit and the Union. Generally, personal development opportunities shall be provided and processed through the University’s tuition rebate or tuition waiver policy and in accordance with the terms therein.

2. To the greatest extent possible and barring any disruption to the mission of the LANG, the Agency agrees to accommodate employees pursuing a higher-level education or certification, in a nationally recognized and accredited institution, such as a community college or university.
3. The Agency will work with the employee to adjust his/her shift rotation or work schedule in order to facilitate their education goals when possible.
4. Upon request, an employee must provide evidence of active/continued enrollment in an accredited institution, satisfactory attendance, and progress in order to justify adjustments to work shifts or schedules.
5. A request to for work-schedule adjustment under this section must be submitted a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the beginning of the applicable school period or semester for which the schedule will apply.

2. To the greatest extent possible, and barring any disruption to the mission of the Arkansas National Guard, the Agency agrees to accommodate employees pursuing a higher level education or certification, in a nationally recognized and accredited institution, such as a community college or university.
3. The Agency will work with the employee to adjust his/her shift rotation or work schedule in order to facilitate their education goals when possible.
4. Upon request, an employee must provide evidence of active/continued enrollment in an accredited institution, satisfactory attendance, and progress in order to justify adjustments to work shifts or schedules.

3. Upon request, an employee must provide evidence of active/continued enrollment in an accredited institution, satisfactory attendance, and progress in order to justify adjustments to work shifts or schedules.

3. Upon request, an employee must provide evidence of active/continued enrollment in an accredited institution, satisfactory attendance, and progress in order to justify adjustments to work shifts or schedules.

2. The Agency will work with the employee to adjust his/her shift rotation or work schedule in order to facilitate their education goals when possible.
3. Upon request, an employee must provide evidence of active/continued enrollment in an accredited institution, satisfactory attendance, and progress in order to justify adjustments to work shifts or schedules.
4. A request to for work-schedule adjustment under this section must be submitted a minimum of fifteen (15) days prior to the beginning of the applicable school period or semester for which the schedule will apply.
