In-House Substitution. All reasonable effort shall be taken by the Superintendent to secure a substitute when needed. However, when a substitute cannot be secured, the class shall be divided up so that no teacher shall have more than three (3) additional students added to his or her classroom for the period in which a substitute could not be obtained. Whenever a vocational teacher is requested to substitute for another instructor, he/she will be compensated at the rate of ten dollars ($10.00) per instructional session following the third (3rd) time the individual teacher is required to substitute.

In-House Substitution. Pay for single-hour substitution shall be 1/5 of substitute pay. When an elementary classroom teacher substitute cannot be found for a full or half day, and as a last resort an in-house elementary classroom teacher takes another class into their the elementary classroom, the elementary classroom teacher will be paid the substitute rate of pay in addition to his/her regular pay. When music or physical education classes are canceled due to the inability to secure a substitute teacher, the classroom teacher shall be paid 1/10 of substitute pay. When a secondary classroom teacher takes another class into their classroom and provides regular instruction to two classes, the secondary classroom teacher will be paid 1/5 of the substitute pay for each class period in addition to his/her regular pay up to a maximum of the daily rate of substitute teacher pay.

This subsection applies to study hall when student-teacher ratio exceeds 60 to 1. 4. All regular teachers who will be affected by the absence of a special teacher shall be notified promptly of the special teacher’s absence. N. If the principal and teacher agree that additional time is needed, special education teachers shall be granted one (1) additional release day to be used for the writing of IEP’s.
In-House Substitution. A teacher who gives up his or her scheduled planning time at the request of the administration to take over another teacher's class for the entire period shall be paid $30.00 per period. Any teacher who gives up his or her planning time to cover another teacher's class for a pregnancy or other long-term leave will be paid $30.00 per period after the initial five (5) consecutive days of in-house substitution. A teacher who has another teacher's entire class added to that teacher for that teacher's sole supervision and instruction for one or more entire class periods shall be paid $30.00 per such period (this includes special area teachers but not study hall situations). Where a period schedule does not apply, the rate shall be $30.00 per hour. A teacher shall receive a minimum of $30.00 per occurrence.
In-House Substitution. When an instructor is absent and another instructor covers the class, the instructor covering the class will be reimbursed in the following situations at the rate of thirty dollars ($30.00) per period. 1. The instructor covers a class in addition to his/her regular class. 2. Intervention Specialists and Title I teachers may only cover a class during his/her planning period. 3. The instructor covers during his/her planning period.

In-House Substitution employed teacher who is assigned to teach another teacher’s class during that teacher’s prep period will receive additional compensation at General Supervisory Rate identified in Appendix B, pro-rated to the nearest quarter-hour.
