Leave of Absence – Leave Without Pay. The Chief Executive Officer/State Librarian has the discretion to grant additional leave to an employee, on terms and conditions as he/she sees fit, for other reasons not specifically provided for in this Agreement (e.g. occupational health and safety training; leave to participate in State, National, or International sporting events). Leave may be granted with or without pay. Prior to approval being granted for a leave of absence request, a decision will be made in consultation with the employee regarding their employment status upon return to duty (i.e. unattached to any specific position or return to their previous position.) LWOP will not count as employment for long service, recreation leave, sick leave, study leave, and family-related leave purposes.

Leave of Absence – Leave Without Pay. An Employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay for a period not to exceed twelve (12) months, provided such leave can be scheduled without adversely affecting the operations of the Transportation Department. Request for leaves of absence without pay shall be directed to the Transportation Director and shall contain justification for approval. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. A leave of absence without pay shall be considered justifiable for the following reasons: 1. Education Leave.
Leave of Absence – Leave Without Pay. A full-time employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay by the Board of Selectmen for a period deemed necessary for the purpose of the leave. The employee is expected to return to work upon expiration of a granted leave or to have arranged an extension of the leave prior to its expiration. Failure on the part of the employee to return to work on the expiration of a granted leave, without having arranged for an extension of leave, shall be deemed a resignation for the Town. An employee shall not be paid for any holidays occurring during leave of absence. Employment and leave of absence shall terminate when the employee accepts other employment. When computing length of service for any reason,. time spent on leave of absence will not be computed. Part-time employees shall not be included in the above leave of absence rule, but may strictly be granted a leave from job duty• as determined by the Board of Selectmen.
Leave of Absence – Leave Without Pay. An employee may request leaves of absence without pay. Supervisors may process leave requests for five (5) days or less. For leave of absence longer than five (5) days, the employee shall forward a completed leave request form to the Human Resources Manager for approval. All requests for leave without pay must be in writing and contain, at a minimum, the following information: (a) the date the leave is requested; (b) the date and time the leave is to begin; (c) the date and time the leave is to end; (d) the reason for the leave; (e) the signature of the employee requesting the leave. All requests for leave without pay must be submitted to the immediate supervisor, a minimum of ten (10) working days prior to the date the request of leave is to begin. A leave without pay may be granted at the discretion of the agency, but only after all qualifying paid leave has been used.

  • Leave of Absence Without Pay (a) Full or part-time leave of absence without pay may be granted at the discretion of the Employer. Faculty members may apply for job-sharing under the provision for part-time leave of absence. Applications shall be made in writing to the administrator responsible. All applications will be dealt with promptly and will not be unreasonably denied, nor dealt with in a discriminatory manner. The reply to an application for leave will be in writing. Except in the case of leaves for short-term emergencies of thirty (30) days or less, the Employer may, at its discretion, require that the length of a leave coincide with the beginning or end of a semester or term of instruction. (b) Where a leave is granted, the faculty member's performance evaluation shall be extended accordingly. (c) No salary increment is payable for a period of leave of absence without pay unless the University President, upon written request from the faculty member concerned, decides the leave is spent in the activities relevant to the University curriculum. In this case, the faculty member will receive any salary adjustments for which he/she would normally be eligible. In the event that the University President judges that the activities are not relevant to the University curriculum, he/she will advise the faculty member as to the reasons for his/her decision in writing before the leave commences. (d) No benefits shall be payable by the Employer for faculty members on leave without pay, except as provided in this Agreement. For faculty members on part- time leave without pay, benefit premiums shall be payable by the Employer on a pro rata basis. If a faculty member proceeding on leave without pay makes a prior payment to the Employer of both the faculty member's share and the Employer's share (pro- rated, if applicable) of any or all of the following benefits, the Employer shall remit these payments to ensure continuous coverage: Life Insurance, Medical Services Plan of BC, Extended Health, Dental, Short and Long Term Disability and AD&D. (e) For leaves of longer than four (4) months, the faculty member, no later than four

Upon return from such approved leave without pay, and after 17 8 6 Three months prior to the commencement of such leave the University shall inform the Member in writing of all agreed terms and conditions upon which the granting of leave is based and specify a deadline for acceptance or rejection of the said terms and conditions . 17 8 7 The Member shall not be deemed to have accepted the terms of such leave of absence until he/she has so notified the University in writing. Failure to accept within the deadline specified in 17.8.6 shall be deemed to constitute non-acceptance .

  • Sick Leave Without Pay Sick leave without pay shall be granted to an employee who does not qualify for sick leave with pay, or who is unable to return to work at the termination of the period for which sick leave with pay is granted.
