MATERIAL HANDLERS. A Material Handler will be assigned to complete the paperwork for all trailers and appointments.
MATERIAL HANDLERS. During the negotiations resulting in this agreement the parties agreed that there would be two classified material handlers per shift.
MATERIAL HANDLERS. SECTION 1: Floor covering material handlers, whether full or part-time, are considered casual and intermittent and cannot use the tools of the trade or perform journeyman duties, except for floor sanding and removal of floor coverings. The job classification of material handler shall include duties such as pickup and delivery of materials handled by the Employer, the placing of materials on jobs, the pickup and delivery of shop tools, the removal of floor coverings, sanding in preparation of floor covering of pour-on/spray-on/roll-on/trowel-on materials, the cleaning and/or waxing of floors before and after installation, the handling of materials and cutting materials from rolls in the shop.
MATERIAL HANDLERS. SECTION 1: The Employer will be allowed to hire a Material Handler after the first journeyman is employed and will be allowed a second Material Handler after the fourth (4th) journeyman and/or apprentice is employed. There shall be no limit on the number of Material Handlers employed. Management is responsible for the recruitment of Material Handlers. SECTION 2: The Employer will be allowed a thirty (30) day period, at the end of which the employee will be required to make application for union membership with SMART Workers’ International Association, Local Union No. 55. Back payment of fringe benefits will be required commencing on the first day of employment following successful completion of the 30 day probationary period.
SECTION 3: The Material Handler will not be allowed to work with any tools used of the trade except as listed below: The scope of work to include the following:
A. Driving of a company vehicle B. Shop clean-up
MATERIAL HANDLERS. (A) Material Handlers shall not work on the fabrication of material or perform work coming within the jurisdiction of this Agreement with the following exceptions:
MATERIAL HANDLERS. 8 Hour Shifts) Assembly, Customer Focus and Shipping/Receiving
a) The normal hours in a work day on a one (1) shift operation is defined as follows: Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
b) The normal hours in a work day on a two (2) shift operation are defined as follows: Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Afternoon Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
c) On a three (3) shift operation, the hours will be as follows: Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Afternoon Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Night Shift: 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The normal work week will start at 10:00 p.m. Sunday for a three (3) shift operation. A twelve (12) minute paid break will be taken approximately 2 hours into the shift, and approximately 2 hours prior to the end of the shift.
MATERIAL HANDLERS. A. The Employer and the Union have a work classification called Material Handler. The Employer may hire at their option to fill this classification. It shall be a condition of employment for those employees hired into the classification that they become members of the Union. The work defined for this classification shall consist of prep work and application of adhesive, installing tackless strip, padding, filling, rolling carpet with roller, material handling, warehousing, delivery to job sites, placing materials on job sites, pickup and delivery of shop tools such as rollers, xxxxxxx, take-up machines, senior stretchers, removal of old materials and sanding in preparation for floorcovering, assisting the journeyperson in moving appliances and furniture, and assisting the cutter in the shop. Except as otherwise allowed under this Section, Material Handlers will not use any tools involving any installation of floorcovering and formica installation on the job site. No trimming, seaming or stretching.
B. The wage for Material handlers will be $15 per hour effective 5/1/19. The wage for Material handlers will be $15.50 per hour effective 5/1/20. The wage for Material handlers will be $16 per hour effective 5/1/21. The Material handler shall receive a Savings Plan contribution of 25 cents per hour worked. Local union dues and working dues for Material handlers shall be determined solely by the Union.
C. Material Handlers who should at some time become floorcovering apprentices, shall receive two hundred (200) hours credit for each six (6) months of service, up to a net total credit on their apprenticeship of one thousand (1,000) hours.
D. It would be a violation of this Addendum to use a Material Handler on the job site in any phase of the installation. A violation of this Section by the employer shall disqualify the Employer from hiring this classification.
E. Only one (1) material handler for every three (3) journeypersons or to suit the needs of the industry as determined by the employer and the Union. Material Handlers that work in the warehouse or that drive truck are not included for the purposes of the ratio. Material Handlers who can show proper student status are not included for the purposes of the ratio.
F. The Employer agrees to make an xxxxxxx effort to select new apprentices from this classification.
G. Employers must inform the Union in written form prior to hiring an individual as a Material Handler.
MATERIAL HANDLERS. No Employer contribution shall be required to the Floorlayers’ Industry Pension Plan for work performed by each Material Handler coming within the scope of this Agreement.

After the first two (2) Material Handlers are employed, the ratio will be: one additional Material Handler for five (5) journeymen and/or apprentices employed. Example: the third Material Handler can be hired when the ninth journeyman and/or apprentice are employed, etc. There shall be no limit on the number of Material Handlers employed.

Back payment of fringe benefits will be required commencing on the first day of employment following successful completion of the 30 day probationary period.

MATERIAL HANDLERS. The Company and the Union hereby agree that to provide temporary help for the above referenced warehouse material handling operations, a Temporary Referral pool shall be established.
