Night Sleep Shift. (a) The night sleep shift shall be from midnight to 6am and will be deemed four (4) hours work for the purposes of the collective agreement. (b) An Employee working a night sleep shift shall receive a stipend of $70.00 for that shift or six (6) times the Nova Scotia minimum wage rate, whichever is greater.

Night Sleep Shift. An Employee who is required to attend to a resident or emergency during a Night Sleep Shift will be compensated for actual time worked, with a minimum of one (1) hour pay per incident, provided that the incidents are at least one (1) hour apart. All incidents within one (1) hour shall be compensated by one (1) hour's pay. Compensation for an Employee under this Article combined with compensation paid to an Employee for working a Night Sleep Shift and any other Article shall not exceed eight (8) hours pay at the regular rate.
Night Sleep Shift. (a) A night sleep shift shall be for a period determined by the Employer of between a minimum of eight (8) hours and not more than ten (10) hours and will be paid at the current minimum wage rate for the Province of Ontario. (b) During the sleep shift staff can sleep, read personal books, or watch television (if) available (c) Staff must be available for episodic care for clients of Assisted Living/Supportive Housing in Xxxxxxx Falls (d) Staff will also be available to provide scheduled care as needed through pre-determined schedules. (e) If staff are required to provide on-site care during the sleep shift, they will receive a minimum of one (1) hour payment at regular salary (versus minimum wage) based on confirmation of time worked either through schedule (if pre-arranged care) or onsite log completed nightly detailing client need, service provided and duration (start to finish). (f) If an employee is scheduled to work a forty (40) hour per week night sleep shift this does not constitute a full-time position, and does not qualify for overtime pay, sick leave or the employee benefit plan. (g) If an employee works less than thirty (30) hours per week, they may qualify for other call-ins based on all their hours worked to a maximum allowable of seventy (70) hours bi-weekly. All hours worked regardless of sleep shifts will fall under the provisions of seniority.
Night Sleep Shift. (a) The night sleep shift shall include two (2) active hours (either at the beginning or end of the Night Sleep Shift) and eight (8) sleep hours, all of which will be deemed to be equivalent to four (4) hours work for the purpose of the collective agreement.

(b) Effective the first pay period following the signing of this agreement, an employee working a night sleep shift shall receive a stipend equivalent to eight times (8x) the Nova Scotia minimum wage rate for the eight (8) sleep hours, and the two (2) active hours shall be paid at the employee’s regular rate. (c) If a person supported requires the assistance of an employee during the night sleep, the employee shall be compensated at the employee’s regular rate of pay in addition to the regular night sleep stipend; however, the maximum compensation for the night sleep shift shall not exceed ten (10) hours times the regular rate of pay. In order to qualify for this pay, the employee must complete the required documentation, detailing the particulars of the assistance provided. For greater clarity, being awakened at night does not qualify for the additional payment where assistance to a person supported is not required or provided.

  • Night Shift Employees who are required to work at least five-eighths of their normal daily tour of duty after 4:30 p.m. and before 8:00 a.m. shall be paid at the rate of five percent over and above his/her normal biweekly or hourly rate of pay for the entire shift so worked.

  • Night Shift Premium All hours worked by an employee between ten (10:00) p.m. and seven (7:00) a.m. shall be considered as shift work and paid for at the applicable straight time/overtime rate plus two ($2.00) dollars per hour shift premium for each full hour worked during this period. Night-shift premium shall not be added to the employee’s hourly rate of pay for the purpose of computing overtime pay.

  • Night Shift Differential Unit 12 employees who regularly work shifts shall receive a night shift differential as set forth below: A. Employees shall qualify for the first night shift pay differential of forty (40) cents per hour where four (4) or more hours of the regularly scheduled work shift falls between 6 p.m. and 12 midnight. B. Employees shall qualify for the second night shift pay differential of fifty (50) cents per hour where four (4) or more hours of the regularly scheduled work shift fall between 12 midnight and 6 a.m. C. A "regularly scheduled work shift" are those regularly assigned work hours established by the department director or designee.

  • Time Off Between Shifts Failure to provide the minimum number of hours between the commencement of an employee's scheduled shift and the commencement of such employee's next scheduled shift shall result in payment of one and one-half (1½) times the employee's regular straight time hourly rate for only those hours which reduce the minimum hour period. Where the minimum period is reduced as a result of an approved change of shift(s) requested by the employee(s), such premium payment shall not apply. The minimum number of hours for purposes of this Article shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.

  • Hour Shift An eight (8) hour tour shall be inclusive of an unpaid one-half (1/2) hour meal period, and two fifteen (15) minute paid relief periods.

  • Afternoon Shift (i) Afternoon Shift is any shift where the normal ceasing time is later than 6.00 p.m. but not later than midnight. (ii) The additional loading for ordinary hours only shall be twenty-five percent (25%) of the all purpose rate applying to the Employees' classification.

  • Broken Shifts (a) An employee may agree to work broken shifts at any time; however an employee may be required to work broken shifts in the following circumstances: (i) in homecare; or (ii) in an emergency – including staff absence; or (iii) up to and including a 4 week continuous period for circumstances other than those covered by subclauses 14.4(a)(i) and (ii). (A) Where an employee has served a period of broken shifts in accordance with subclause (iii) the employee shall not be required to serve a further period on broken shifts until he or she has been off broken shifts for a period equivalent to the previous period on broken shifts. (b) A “broken shift” for the purposes of this sub-clause means a single shift worked by an employee that includes one or more breaks in excess of that provided for meal breaks, where the time between the commencement and termination of the broken shift shall not exceed 12 hours. (c) An employee must receive a minimum break of 10 hours between broken shifts rostered on successive days. (d) Where broken shifts are worked, employees shall receive the per shift allowance set out in Item 1 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement. (e) Payment for a broken shift shall be at ordinary pay with penalty rates and shift allowances in accordance with Clause 18 - Shift and Weekend Work, with shift allowances being determined by the commencing time of the broken shift. (f) All work performed beyond the maximum span of 12 hours for a broken shift will be paid at double ordinary pay.

  • Night Premium For all time worked by employees, after 7 p.m. and before 7 a.m., by employees hired on or before August 5, 2005, a premium of twenty-five cents (25¢) per hour shall be paid.

  • Night Duty Employees who, as part of their regularly scheduled work shift, are required to work any hours between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. shall receive a premium of eight and one-half percent (8.5%) per hour in addition to their straight time hourly base rate of pay for any and all hours worked between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

  • Hour Shifts When the Employer deems it necessary to implement a twelve (12) hour work day, affected employees shall be notified pursuant to Clause 14.05. The following Clauses shall be replaced or added to the Collective Agreement where appropriate.
