Official Leave of Absence. 0.0.Xx the event it becomes necessary for certificated staff members to obtain additional time off from classroom duties, a leave of absence without pay may be granted to continuing contract staff for not more than one (1) school year. Where possible, the application for a leave of absence should be submitted to the Superintendent by April 1 of the year prior to the leave of absence.

Official Leave of Absence. A regular employee may request an Official leave of absence exceeding four hundred and eighty (480) hours, but not exceeding one year (2080 hours). Official leaves of absence may be granted upon written request by or on behalf of the employee, specifying the period and the reason, upon the written recommendation of the Department Head and with the written approval of the Human Resources Director. Application must be made on a form supplied by the Human Resources department in advance of the effective date of the leave, unless circumstances make such advance request impossible. If the Human Resources Director disapproves the request, it shall be so endorsed and returned to the Agency/Department Head, who may then present it to the Board of Supervisors. The Board’s action shall be final. Any Official Leave of Absence granted shall be for a specified period and appropriate conditions may be imposed, such as the employee providing sufficient medical documentation or other evidence documenting the leave as required by the Human Resources Director or designee. Such leave may be extended upon further written request containing justification therefore, such request for extension is to be processed in the same manner as the original request. In the case of a request for an extension due to illness or disability, updated information of the same kind submitted for the original request will be required. Nothing herein shall prevent the earlier return to duty by the employee, except the Department Head may require two weeks advance notice of the employee’s intention to return. An employee on leave of absence for illness or disability reasons will be required to present a return to work statement from the attending physician releasing the employee to full duty, prior to being allowed to return to work. Any release to less than full duty will be allowed only as accommodation as required under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Employment and Housing Act, or through the County’s return to work program. The Human Resources Director shall be promptly notified of the return of any employee from an official leave of absence without pay. The Board of Supervisors shall have the right to cancel or revoke a leave of absence previously granted.

  • Special Leave of Absence Teachers may be granted leaves of absence without pay for one (1) year under the following criteria:

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home.   • ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE The Employer, may, in its discretion, grant a leave of absence with or without pay to any employee for education personal reasons. Leave of absence due to pregnancy and/or parental leave shall be granted in accordance with the requirements of the Standards Act of Ontario If an employee who has completed his probationary period is required to serve as a juror, he shall not lose his regular pay because of such attendance provided he notifies his supervisor immediately upon notification that he will be required to serve as a juror, presents proof of service and promptly pays to the Employer any amounts paid to him for such service. Employees absent from work for any continuous period of fifteen (15) calendar days or more other than a period of vacation leave or paid sick leave shall not earn vacation or sick leave credits during the period of any such absence and anniversary dates shall be adjusted accordingly except as specified in Article In addition, the Employer shall not be required to contribute to the payment of health and welfare benefits during any such absence. Employees who desire to maintain health and welfare benefits through the Employer must arrange payments of premiums for all such benefits and pay all such premiums through the Employer before commencing any absence. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, it is agreed that the Employer shall maintain health and welfare benefits for employees who are off work on Long Term Disability or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Benefits for a period of up to one (1) year from the date such employee ceased working for the Employer provided the employee pays his portion of the health and welfare benefits premium. An employee shall be entitled to paternity leave which shall consist of one (1)day with pay and two (2) days without pay.
