Open Flying. .01 Open flying shall consist of all unblocked flying and flying that becomes available during the month. Flight Attendants who wish to avail themselves of open flying for the following month will indicate that on the monthly bid sheet; .02 Open flying shall be awarded on the basis of seniority but shall not normally be assigned to incur overtime. .03 Once awarded an open flight, the Flight Attendants must operate the flight. .04 Provided that it does not disrupt a Flight Attendant’s regular block, open flying shall be awarded in accordance with seniority by eighteen hundred (1,800) the day prior to the flight. The Company shall make reasonable attempts to contact open fliers to award open flying as it becomes available throughout the day, but any Flight Attendant who has not been contacted may contact the Company before eighteen hundred (1800) to check whether any open flying is available. After eighteen hundred (1,800) the Flight Attendant is not obligated to take such flights. .05 Crew scheduling shall leave a message where possible when calling to inform a Flight Attendant of open flying as per Article (.04) above
Open Flying. Any Credits that cannot be built into the Pilot’s Blocks or becomes available throughout the Bid Period shall be designated as Open Flying. Any uncovered flying as result of a Pilot booking off sick shall not be considered Open Flying.
Open Flying. 1. The Company may designate up to ten percent (10%) of known and proposed flying as open flying at each domicile. 2. The Company shall post random charters in open flying. In addition, the Company, as much as possible, shall place reoccurring charters in one (1) line of flying, if unable to place into open flying. 3. Open flying shall be posted in the computer as soon as such flying is known. 4. Initial open flying is all open flying remaining after the schedule integration and relief lines have been constructed. 5. Initial open flying must be posted for a minimum of four (4) days. After four (4) days, the open flying shall be assigned to the senior most person requesting such assignment that does not create any requirement for additional coverage. 6. After initial flying is awarded, all open flying shall be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. 7. Open flying, once assigned shall not be taken from the Flight Attendant awarded the trip(s). Additionally, once a trip has been awarded from open flying, this trip shall be available to drop or trade. 8. Open flying, either scheduled, or as a result of a request to drop, may be assigned by Crew Scheduling to any Flight Attendant on a time available and/or long call status, regardless of seniority. Flying that becomes available as a result of additional flights, or requests to drop may be assigned directly to a time available and/or long call Flight Attendant without being posted in open flying. 9. In months where training and/or Competency Checks are planned, the Company may utilize Open Flying for the specific purpose of scheduling such training. EXAMPLE: An initial training class is in session. It is known that I. O.E. requirements shall require extensive use of a particular aircraft type during the month. Crew Scheduling may withhold a certain number of trips from the bid lines in order to accommodate this liability.
Open Flying. (a) A Flight Attendant may drop, trade or pick-up from Company open time such that the monthly credit level is not less than seventy-five (75) credits or up to a maximum of one hundred and twenty (120) credits; (b) Drops are not intended to be used to obtain time off for calendar events that are common to all Flight Attendants without Crew Scheduling approval. Dates common to all Flight Attendants shall include statutory holidays and the associated weekend (e.g. statutory holiday is on Monday or Friday), the last ten (10) days of December, Mother’s/Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day and Halloween; (c) Drops must be submitted via Company Trip Trade system for processing no later than seventy-two (72) hours prior to the effective date of the drop. Drops are guaranteed as long as they are not requested on the day(s) referenced above; (i) Any drop requested within seventy-two (72) hours of the departure time, Crew Scheduling will have the discretion to action the drop; (ii) The preference deadline to submit the request to pick up or swap from Open time will be 1500 hours (local time) day prior. The award time will be by 1700 hours (local time) the day prior. (d) Pairings that touch the last day of the month will be restricted from being dropped until the final schedule for the following month has been published. (i) Open flying that remains after the schedule build has been completed, will be available for Flight Attendants to bid on in accordance with Article 5.28.07; (ii) Flying will be awarded in seniority to Flight Attendants who have submitted a bid each day by 1500 (not ‘day of’); (iii) Flight Attendants are able to place a bid for ‘Open’ flying that takes place at any time during the month and it will be awarded, in seniority, daily. Example: A pairing is showing as available on the 10th of the month in the open time pool, a Flight Attendant can submit their bid for this flying as soon as it appears in the open time pool up until 1500 the day prior to when the flying is scheduled to operate. If this flying were available in the open pool on the 3rd of the month, it would be awarded, in seniority order, to any Flight Attendant bidding on it that day in conjunction with the parameters above.

Open Flying. 16.9.1 Any and all Open Flying awarded to a FCM will be paid at the appropriate rate of pay as per article 16.6, 16.7 and 16.8 as applicable.
Open Flying. A flight or series of flights not covered in a schedule. Any licenced Pilot that holds the following manager positions: Vice PresidentFlight Operations, Director – Flight Operations, Chief Pilot, Manager - Training and Standards, and Manager – Flight Safety.
Open Flying. 1 . All unassigned time, including load/variable staffing, except as defined in Paragraph A .8 . of this Section, will be available in each Base . The flying available at the start of the open time trading process must include trip pairings equivalent to approximately three (3) hours per primary line of flying at each Base . All trips that are placed in open time and changes to open time will be made available as soon as possible . 2 . When the projected Reserve coverage is insufficient to cover the known open flying, open time may be moved from one Base to another to accommodate staffing requirements and the operations as follows: a . Domestic pairings may be moved one (1) calendar day, home Domicile time, prior to the date of departure; b . International pairings may be moved two (2) calendar days, home Domicile time, prior to the date of departure . The Company shall maintain records of the movement of pairings between Domiciles and shall provide the information to the MEC President on a monthly basis . 3 . All pairings removed from open time by a Lineholder and placed in the Lineholder’s schedule will become part of her/his bid line for the month unless the Flight Attendant contacts Scheduling within one hour (1:00) of the transaction to withdraw it . 4 . The Company may place reserve days in open time . These days will be referred to as “RO” days . RO days may be picked up by Lineholders provided they are legal and available to fly on the day(s) picked up . A pairing assignment on an RO day(s) is limited to the RO day(s) . An RO day where no assignment occurs does not constitute a calendar day free from duty . A Flight Attendant who picks up an RO day shall be paid and credited for the value of a reserve day or the value of the assigned trip if it is greater .
