Overtime on Saturday. An employee required to work overtime on a Saturday will be afforded at least three hours’ work or paid for three hours at time and a half except where such overtime is continuous with overtime or work commenced on the previous day or completed the following day. Provided that where work continues over two days the minimum payment will be for three hours at the appropriate rate.

Overtime on Saturday and Sunday work shall be on a voluntary basis, to senior employees first with skill and qualifications to perform the work. A sign up sheet for weekend overtime will be put up on the bulletin board on Monday and will be removed by noon on Thursday. The results of the sign up posting will be posted early Friday morning, so employees can see who has been awarded the opportunity to work. Due to the nature of the business, employees will be encouraged to cooperate to work overtime, when possible. In the event no senior employees volunteer, then the most Junior employee with the skill and qualification in the department shall be assigned to perform the overtime work.

Those employees who work on a Friday which is observed as a holiday in lieu of a holiday falling on Saturday shall be allowed a day off in lieu thereof as scheduled by the appointing officer in the current fiscal year.
