PAID JURY DUTY. When called upon in a manner prescribed by law, the unit member shall be granted a leave of absence, with pay, if proof from the court is submitted by the employee, to serve as a juror for no more than ten (10) days. The District will provide to each employee who notifies the District in writing that he or she has been called for jury duty, a standard letter to the court confirming that the District only pays jury duty pay for ten (10) days annually for each member. Compensation received for jury service shall not exceed the unit member’s daily compensation. Therefore, a member on jury duty leave shall endorse jury fee checks received for the first ten (10) days of service to the District. It is understood that bargaining unit members who are able to postpone jury duty to the summer break, winter break, or spring break shall be compensated at the day-to-day substitute rate of pay for a period not to exceed five (5) days.

PAID JURY DUTY. 24.01 The Home agrees to grant leave of absences without loss of seniority to a full or part-time employee who serves as a juror. The Home shall pay such an employee the difference between his normal earnings and the payment the employee received for jury service, excluding payment for travelling, meals or other expenses. The employee will present proof of service and the amount received. The foregoing shall not apply to proceedings between the Home and the Union and/or any person represented by the Union. Where the employee involved is working on the night shift, he shall for the purposes of this article, be excused, where necessary, on the shift immediately preceding the duty appearance.
PAID JURY DUTY. In the event that a Teacher is required to perform jury duty, the Teacher shall be compensated by the District for each day served on jury duty in an amount equal to his/her full pay as a Teacher of the District. The Teacher shall receive full pay from the District for those days of jury duty which coincide with days during which the schools are in normal operation, and the Teacher, in turn, shall reimburse the District for each day served on jury duty an amount equal to the daily remuneration (excluding money received for mileage or meals) received by the Teacher for his/her services as a jury member on those days.

  • Jury Duty 31.1 An employee who is summoned for jury duty and is required to lose time from his assignment as a result thereof, shall be paid for actual time lost with a maximum of one basic day's pay at the straight time rate of his position for each day lost, less the amount allowed him for jury duty for each such day excluding allowances paid by the court for meals, lodging or transportation, subject to the following requirements and limitations:

Time spent by an Employee required to serve as a court witness in any matter arising out of her employment, shall be considered as time worked at the appropriate rate of pay.

  • Jury Duty and Witness Duty If an employee is required to serve as a juror in any court of law, or is required to attend as a witness in a court proceeding in which the Crown is a party, or is required by subpoena to attend a court of law or coroner’s inquest, in connection with a case arising from an employee’s duties at the Home, the employee shall not lose regular pay because of such attendance, provided that the employee:

  • Jury Duty and Crown Witness (a) Employees subpoenaed as a crown witness or for jury duty shall be paid the difference between their normal daily wages and the amount they receive for such public duty for any day on which they are scheduled to work;

  • Extra Duty A. All extra duty vacancies listed in Article 29 (except as provided in 7-8-C) shall be filled by MBUs, providing they meet the following criteria.

  • Civic Duty Whenever an employee is served with a subpoena by a court of competent jurisdiction which compels his/her presence as a witness during his/her normal working period, unless he/she is a party to the litigation or an expert witness, such employee shall be granted time off with pay in the amount of the difference between the employee's regular earnings and any amount he/she receives for such appearance. This Article is not applicable to appearances for which the employee receives compensation in excess of his/her regular earnings. A court of competent jurisdiction is defined as a court within the County in which the employee resides or if outside the county of residence, the place of appearance must be within 150 miles of the employee's residence.
