Physical Fitness Requirements. In order to maintain efficiency in the Police Department and to protect the public, the City may establish reasonable physical fitness requirements for employees. Providing there is a good faith effort by the employee there shall be no discipline attached to an employee's failure to meet these requirements. However, action may be taken with respect to an employee, irrespective of his/her ability to meet reasonable physical fitness requirements, if in fact that employee’s health interferes with his/her ability to perform his/her job. Upon submission of a receipt, the City shall reimburse an employee a maximum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) per fiscal year for a health club membership, as reviewed and approved by the City.

In order to maintain efficiency in the Fire Department, to protect the public and to reduce insurance costs and risks, the City, after consulting with the Union, may establish a reasonable physical fitness program with voluntary and/or required employee participation and goals. In the event a mandatory plan would subject employees to discipline, the parties agree to re-open this Section 18.4 to bargain over the mandatory nature of the program and go to interest arbitration, if necessary.

While employees may be required to participate in any such program, no employee will be disciplined for failure to meet any goals that may be established as long as the employee makes a good faith effort to meet any such goals. Before any such program is implemented, the Village shall review and discuss the program at a meeting of the Labor‐Management Committee.

Physical Fitness Requirements. A. The Official Physical Fitness Program for Correction Officers hired on or after January 1, 1993 is set forth in Appendix C, attached hereto and made a part thereof.

In order to maintain efficiency in the Police Department, to protect the public, and to reduce insurance costs and risks, the Village shall, beginning after April 1, 2010, establish as its mandatory physical fitness requirements for full time sworn officers the State of Illinois Physical Fitness Training Standards. The Standards are attached hereto as Appendix C. Employees are required to make a good faith effort to meet such fitness standards. Prior to April 1, 2011, there shall be no discipline for failure to meet the standards provided the officer makes a good faith effort to meet such standard. Effective April 1, 2011, officers who fail to record a composite score of 95 percent of the minimum standards for such test(s), shall be subject to the following discipline.
Physical Fitness Requirements. The OrPAT Standards (Exhibit B) attached, are hereby incorporated into and made a part of this Agreement. All employees who are required to attend the DPSST academy to become certified to perform their jobs shall be able to pass OrPAT standards applicable to the employee’s classification, during DPSST academy training. All employees must maintain a personal level of fitness that enables them to perform the essential functions of their job classification.
