Precepting. When proficiency attainment is needed – one that involves planning, organizing, assessing competency and evaluating and is provided by an employee, that employee is assigned by the manager as a preceptor. A preceptor is an experienced employee or employees proficient in their work and communication skills who is specifically assigned by the Employer to participate in the planning, organizing and evaluating of new employees, current employees, and students. Precepting may include but is not limited to training that includes assessment of skills goal directed education and training for a specific period. Written goals, progress, and evaluation is an expectation for preceptors to complete for both staff and students.
Precepting a. Precepting for nurses at the XX0, XX0 and CN4 level who complete the preceptor training course will receive $1.00 an hour for all hours spent precepting, which excludes general orientation and training of new employees. Precepting is an assignment and is defined in subsection (b) of this section. There shall be no pyramiding of preceptor pay. The hourly precepting rate applies regardless of the number of preceptees.
b. Precepting may be performed by a nurse at the CN2 level or higher clinical ladder level after successfully completing preceptor training, agreeing to and being appointed to be specifically responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating the skill development of one or more RNs enrolled in a defined precepting/training program. Precepting. The parties agree that within 90 days following ratification of the Agreement, the parties will begin discussions in Unit Based Councils regarding availability of precepting programs and eligibility for preceptor pay. The parties will work in good faith to identify issues surrounding precepting and to propose reasonable solutions to those issues. Standby. Within 90 days following ratification of this Agreement, the parties will meet and discuss options and alternatives to scheduling caregivers for standby following their regularly scheduled work week. Precepting. A Precepting program shall be established and maintained by the Department. Those employees who are assigned precepting duties (preceptors) shall receive a stipend of seven tenths of one percen of the current top step Firefighter rate of pay for each tour in which precepting is performed.
