Relief of Duty. Notwithstanding the provisions of this Article, the County Manager may approve the temporary assignment of an employee to a status of leave with pay pending conduct or completion of such investigation(s) or the opportunity to respond as may be required to determine if disciplinary action is to be taken.
Relief of Duty. Notwithstanding the provisions of this Article, the Police Chief, or designee, for good cause may approve the temporary assignment of an employee to a status of leave with pay pending completion of such investigation(s)as may be required to determine if disciplinary action is to be taken.

If the test results are positive employees will be allowed to use vacation, floating holiday, or compensatory time, at their discretion or sick leave if entitled or applicable during the period of absence to eliminate any loss of income. If an employee chooses to use paid leave during the period of absence they must notify the City which type of paid leave will be use during the period of absence. The City shall have five (5) working days after positive test results, to notify the employee of disciplinary actions in accordance with the Personnel Policy Manual, Chapter 16 Discipline.

It is a violation of this policy for an employee to refuse to submit to immediate testing for alcohol and/or illegal drugs.
