RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR. Each Department Chair shall exercise professional leadership in the department, shall conduct the routine operation of departmental affairs and shall take appropriate initiative in recommending the development of the curricular and resource requirements of the department. Where applicable, his/her responsibilities shall more specifically include but shall not be limited to the following: 1. in accordance with the other applicable provisions of this Agreement, providing for the scheduling of courses assigned to the department and classes, academic advising, independent and intra-departmental and interdisciplinary learning programs, student practica, fieldwork and internships, faculty research, and other student and faculty activities within the department; 2. making recommendations regarding the extension or modification of the curriculum structure within the department to strengthen the University’s programs and to endeavor to provide students with maximum accessibility to the University’s offerings; 3. assisting in the conduct of periodic academic program reviews and outcome assessments to strengthen and update the curriculum; 4. assisting in the recruitment of faculty; 5. periodically submitting requests for supplies, equipment, library holdings and other needs of the department; 6. maintaining communication with students, prospective students and other faculty at the University relative to departmental matters; 7. assigning on a fair and equitable basis student advisees to members of the faculty of the department; operating and monitoring the advising program of the department to provide for the quality of such program and, where appropriate, its proper interaction with the advising program of the University; and evaluating each faculty member in the department with respect to the quality of advising as it is rendered by him/her to students; 8. supervising members of the faculty in the department and conducting faculty evaluations; 9. advising faculty members of the receipt of any substantial complaint of a student or member of the faculty which the Department Chair believes may affect the employment status of the faculty member; 10. seeking, where appropriate, to resolve informally complaints made against faculty and to resolve conflicts between a student and a faculty member or between one member of the faculty and another; 11. preparing annual and long-range academic and budgetary plans for the department; 12. maintaining an inventory of academic and...

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR. The department chair is the chief administrative officer of the academic department, a member of the faculty and a member of the bargaining unit. The responsibilities of the chair are to provide effective leadership and fiscal, program, and personnel management in the operation of the department. Specific roles and responsibilities of the department chairs are described in their respective college P&P. All decisions on granting paid or unpaid professional leave, unpaid personal leave and course buyout related to grant activity are made by the Chief Academic Officer in consultation with the xxxx of the college. Requests for such leave or assignments must be made by the faculty member to the xxxx in consultation with the department chair. Recommendations will be made from the xxxx to the Chief Academic Officer consistent with Article 7.8.5(f), Article 11.5.7, and Article 11.9. Chairs may not initiate a grievance regarding matters arising from their duties and responsibilities as chairs.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE UNIVERSITY The UNIVERSITY shall designate in writing a faculty member to coordinate with a designee of the FIELDWORK SITE.

  • Responsibilities of the District 12.1. The District shall examine the documents submitted by the Architect and shall render decisions so as to avoid unreasonable delay in the process of the Architect’s Services. 12.2. The District shall verbally or in writing advise Architect if the District becomes aware of any fault or defect in the Project, including any errors, omissions or inconsistencies in the Architect’s documents. Failure to provide such notice shall not relieve Architect of its responsibility therefore, if any. 12.3. Unless the District and Architect agree that a hazardous materials consultant shall be a Consultant of the Architect, the District shall furnish the services of a hazardous material consultant or other consultants when such services are requested in writing by Architect and deemed necessary by the District or are requested by the District. These services shall include: asbestos and lead paint survey; abatement documentation; and specifications related to said matters, which are to be incorporated into bid documents prepared by Architect. If the hazardous materials consultant is furnished by the District and is not a Consultant of the Architect, the specifications shall include a note to the effect that the hazardous materials consultant’s specifications are included in the Architect’s bid documents for the District’s convenience and have not been prepared or reviewed by the Architect. The note shall also direct questions about the hazardous materials consultant’s specifications related to asbestos and lead paint survey and/or abatement documentation to the preparer of the hazardous materials consultant’s specifications.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES OF CITY City or its representative shall issue all communications to Contractor. City has the authority to request changes in the work in accordance with the terms of this Agreement and with the terms in Exhibit A – Scope of Work. City has the authority to stop work or to suspend any work.

  • Responsibilities of the Transfer Agent The Transfer Agent undertakes the duties and obligations imposed by this Agreement upon the following terms and conditions, by all of which the Fund, by its acceptance hereof, shall be bound: 11.1 Whenever in the performance of its duties hereunder the Transfer Agent shall deem it necessary or desirable that any fact or matter be proved or established prior to taking or suffering any action hereunder, such fact or matter may be deemed to be conclusively proved and established by a certificate signed by an officer of the Fund and delivered to the Transfer Agent. Such certificate shall be full authorization to the recipient for any action taken or suffered in good faith by it under the provisions of this Agreement in reliance upon such certificate. 11.2 The Fund agrees that it will perform, execute, acknowledge and deliver or cause to be performed, executed, acknowledged and delivered all such further and other acts, instruments and assurances as may reasonably be required by the Transfer Agent for the carrying out, or performing by the Transfer Agent of the provisions of this Agreement.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE STATE 3.2.1 The State will identify a Project Manager for the Project. The Project Manager will be the sole point of contact between the Contractor and the State. The Project Manager will be the State’s representative authorized to communicate the State’s position and directions related to all contract work and to coordinate all change orders with the Commissioner of Buildings and General Services as deemed necessary. 3.2.2 If applicable, the State shall furnish all surveys describing the physical characteristics, legal limitations and utility locations for the site of the Project, and a legal description of the site. 3.2.3 Except as provided in Subparagraph 4.7.1, the State shall secure and pay for necessary approvals, easements, assessments and charges required for the construction, use or occupancy of permanent structures or for permanent changes in existing facilities. 3.2.4 Information or services under the State's control shall be furnished by the State with reasonable promptness to avoid delay in the orderly progress of the Work. 3.2.5 Unless otherwise provided in the Contract Documents, the Contractor will be furnished, free of charge, all copies of Drawings and Specifications reasonably necessary for the execution of the Work. 3.2.6 The State shall forward instructions to the Contractor through the Architect. 3.2.7 The foregoing are in addition to any other duties and responsibilities of the State enumerated in the Contract Documents including those responsibilities described in Articles 6, 9 and 11 of this agreement. 3.2.8 The State may utilize a Clerk-of-the-Works to provide inspection and monitoring work on behalf of the State. If a Clerk-of-the-Works is utilized, it is the responsibility of the Architect and the Contractor to review and understand the Clerk’s duties, responsibilities and limitations of authority. Upon request, the State shall provide a copy of the Clerk-of-the-Works contract to Architect and Contractor.

  • Responsibilities of the Company 3.3.1 The Company shall provide participants of CopyTrade with a complete package of services according to the Customer Agreement. The Company is liable for proper performance of technological solutions according to the Customer Agreement. 3.3.2 The Company bears no liability to participants of CopyTrade for lost profit or losses, which may directly or indirectly occur as a result of trading operations performed or not performed by an Investor or a Trader. 3.3.3 The Company bears no liability to participants of CopyTrade for lost profit or losses, which may be directly or indirectly occur as a result of their ignorance of regulatory documents or cooperation scheme. 3.3.4 The Company doesn’t evaluate Traders’ professional skills and suitability not on a single stage of their activity and bears no responsibility to Investors for any losses or lost profit they may incur. 3.3.5 The Company is not liable for:

  • Department Responsibilities The use of sick leave may properly be denied if these procedures are not followed. Abuse of sick leave on the part of the employee is cause for disciplinary action. Departmental approval of sick leave is a certification of the legitimacy of the sick leave claim. The department head or designee may make reasonable inquiries about employee absences. The department may require medical verification for an absence of three (3) or more working days. The department may also require medical verification for absences of less than three (3) working days for probable cause if the employee had been notified in advance in writing that such verification was necessary. Inquiries may be made in the following ways: 1. Calling the employee's residence telephone number or other contact telephone number provided by the employee if telephone notification was not made in accordance with departmental sick leave call-in guidelines. These inquiries shall be subject to any restrictions imposed by the employee under Section 14.4.a. 2. Obtaining the employee's signature on the Absence/Overtime Record, or on another form established for that purpose, as employee certification of the legitimacy of the claim. 3. Obtaining the employee's written statement regarding the sick leave claim and duration. 4. Requiring the employee to obtain a physician's certificate or verification of the employee's illness, date(s) the employee was incapacitated, and the employee's ability to return to work, as specified above. 5. In absences of an extended nature, requiring the employee to obtain from their physician a statement of progress and anticipated date on which the employee will be able to return to work, as specified above. Department heads are responsible for establishing timekeeping procedures which will insure the submission of a time card covering each employee absence and for operating their respective offices in accordance with these policies and with clarifying regulations issued by the Office of the County Administrator. To help assure uniform policy application, the Director of Human Resources or designated management staff of the County Human Resources Department should be contacted with respect to sick leave determinations about which the department is in doubt.

  • Responsibilities of the City The City’s Contract Manager will be responsible for exercising general oversight of the Contractor’s activities in completing the Scope of Work. Specifically, the Contract Manager will represent the City’s interests in resolving day-to-day issues that may arise during the term of this Contract, shall participate regularly in conference calls or meetings for status reporting, shall promptly review any written reports submitted by the Contractor, and shall approve all invoices for payment, as appropriate. The City’s Contract Manager shall give the Contractor timely feedback on the acceptability of progress and task reports.

  • Responsibilities of the Parties 1.5.1 The Parties shall perform all obligations of this Agreement in accordance with all Applicable Laws and Regulations, Operating Requirements, and

(b) WESCO hereby irrevocably agrees that if at any time it shall cease to be the Servicer hereunder, it shall act (if the then-current Servicer so requests) as the data-processing agent of the Servicer and, in such capacity, WESCO shall conduct the data-processing functions of the administration of the Receivables and the Collections thereon in substantially the same way that WESCO conducted such data-processing functions while it acted as the Servicer.
