Rest Periods and Clean-up Time. A. Employees may be granted a rest period of up to fifteen (15) minutes per work day. Employees covered by recently expired contracts shall continue to enjoy the same rest period benefits provided for in such contracts.

Rest Periods and Clean-up Time. 1. Two (2) rest periods of not more than fifteen (15) minutes shall normally be granted during an eight (8) hour or a ten (10) hour shift. Three (3) rest periods of not more than fifteen (15) minutes may be granted during a twelve (12) hour shift. Part-time employees shall normally be granted one fifteen (15) minute rest period for each work period of three (3) continuous hours or more, not to exceed two (2) rest periods per day.
Rest Periods and Clean-up Time. (a) All employees shall have two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each work period in excess of six (6) hours, one (1) rest period to be granted before and one (1) after the meal period. Employees working a shift of three and one-half (3½) hours, but not more than six (6) hours, shall receive one (1) rest period during such a shift. Rest periods shall not begin until one (1) hour after the commencement of work or not later than one (1) hour before either the meal period or the end of the shift. Rest periods shall be taken without loss of pay to the employee. The application of this provision is subject to Clause 17.2(b).

Rest periods may not be used to either extend the meal break or reduce the length of the workday without prior approval of the department head. Employees who work less than a five-day workweek shall be allowed rest periods not to exceed a total of two and a half hours per workweek. The rest periods shall be of equal length and scheduled at equal intervals throughout each workday.

  • Rest Period An employee who works overtime shall have at least a ten hour rest period between the end of ordinary hours on any one day and start of ordinary hours on the next day. If on the instructions of the employer, the employee resumes or continues work without having had 10 consecutive hours off duty, the employee shall be paid double time until he or she is released from duty for ten hour rest period. The employee shall then be entitled to be absent without loss of pay for ordinary working hours occurring during the ten hour rest period. In the case of shift workers, eight hours shall be substituted for ten hours when overtime is worked:

  • Rest Period After Overtime (a) When overtime work is necessary, it will, wherever reasonably practicable, be so arranged that employees have at least 10 consecutive hours off duty between the work of successive days or shifts, including overtime.

  • Rest Periods Employees working a full shift will receive one rest period of fifteen (15) minutes in each half of the shift. Employees working less than a full shift, but a minimum of four (4) hours will receive one fifteen (15) minute rest period.
