Special Project Employees. Employees hired for special projects as mutually agreed between the Employer and the Union or employees hired under the auspices of the federal or provincial Special Employment Programs; these employees shall be considered terminated for cause upon completion of their project or programs.

(b) Prior to hiring Special Project employees, the parties shall meet to identify the necessity of designating such employees as Special Project employees. (c) Should the Special Project be no-provincially funded, Appendix A (d) Non- Provincially Funded Positions (“NPF”) shall apply. (d) Special Project employees shall be members of the Union and entitled to all applicable benefits of the Collective Agreement. (e) Special Projects shall not exceed three (3) months in duration. The Parties may agree to a further period of three (3) months. If the Special Project continues beyond six (6) months, the position shall be posted as a regular union position. (f) Special Project employees shall be paid 10.2% in lieu of scheduled vacations and paid holidays, which shall be paid out on each pay cheque. (g) The Employer will provide the Union with all information about the nature of the position and full funding details.

Special Project Employees. (a) Special project employees are employees hired for a specified period of time in order to perform a specific task, project or campaign. The funds to pay for the position are received under a time defined contract. Special project employees will not replace any bargaining unit work. Special project employees may, with advance notice, be dismissed prior to completion of the specified term. Union dues will be remitted by Employer to the Union. (b) Special project employees will be considered laid off upon completion of their specified term, unless that term is extended by mutual agreement of the parties. Special project employees laid off in this manner will not retain seniority nor be subject to Article 13 -
