Summer Runs. One week summer vacation shall not disqualify a driver from signing for a summer run.
Summer Runs. The district shall post a list of drivers interested in summer runs. The vacancies will be filled from interested driver lists by seniority. The next senior driver will be notified that they will be the substitute driver if needed. Any employee bidding on a summer run must be available to drive a summer run. Drivers who work summer runs of more than 26 work days shall receive 24 hours paid vacation provided they have worked a minimum of 1200 total hours during the preceding school year, and complete 90% of scheduled summer run hours. To be eligible for the 24 hours of vacation time, the driver must work the first and last week of their scheduled summer route. This vacation must be taken when school is not in session. All summer monitor work will be assigned to monitors on a seniority basis. The next senior monitor will be notified that they will be the substitute monitor if needed.
Summer Runs. The provisions contained in this article shall apply to bus drivers and aides who have summer runs. Summer runs shall be governed by the following:
Summer Runs. Those drivers and monitors interested in being considered for summer transportation runs will express their interest and preference in writing at least three (3) weeks prior to the end of the regular school year. Routes will be assigned according to seniority.
Summer Runs. (a) Summer runs and driving shall be posted and shall be awarded by seniority.
(b) Field trips shall be awarded by continuous rotation, drivers not interested in summer field trips must notify their supervisor prior to the end of each school year.
(c) Time off work during the summer must be pre-approved through the Transportation Director by June 25 for that summer. Time off is limited to no more than one (1) driver at a time and no more than one (1) consecutive day.
(d) Bus Drivers awarded summer bus route(s) that total 20+ days (excluding subbing, or any type of trip including field trips or athletic trips) will earn one (1) personal day to be used during the summer. This personal day must be preapproved prior to using. If requested during the month of July, it must be preapproved through the Superintendent's Office. This personal day cannot be carried over nor submitted for cash reimbursed.

a. The transportation of any 12-month special education student(s).
b. Any other summer transportation needed by the District.
Summer Runs. Summer special education and skill center runs shall be offered to drivers on a biweekly rotating basis. Drivers who rotate on summer special education runs will be allowed to use their sick leave days provided they can provide the district with medical verification of the need for the leave, if requested. Bereavement days may also be used by these drivers. Drivers will sign up for summer special education and skill center runs prior to the last full week of school. Drivers who are called to substitute on such runs and who are not at home, or there is no answer, will be bypassed for that run. The time of the call will be recorded.

Each bus driver shall receive $150.00 for completing a dry run of their daily routes by August 20 and then providing feedback to the transportation office staff. Participation in this program is voluntary, but “strongly encouraged".
A. Rotating Rosters
1. All field trips, athletic trips, shuttles, midday runs, appointments, and substitutes for alternative school runs and substitutes for late loads shall be filled by contracted employees who have placed their name on rotating rosters, subject to Section A.2 of this article.
2. These rosters will be revised at the beginning of each year and arranged in seniority order. Employees will not be assigned a trip that interferes with their regularly scheduled run. Employees can remove their name or place their name on these rosters any time during the school year.
3. Assignments will be filled based on the seniority of those employees on the roster. If a contracted employee is absent on extended leave (seven [7] or more continuous work days), the assignment will be offered to the most senior employee on the roster who is available to fill the position for the entire period of the extended leave. If any employee turns down the assignment, it will be offered to the next employee on the roster. If no one is available from the roster, the assignment will be given to a substitute employee.
4. Any employee who accepts an assignment on an emergency (less than 48 hours’ notice) basis shall not be charged with a turn on the roster.

Summer Runs. A. All Summer runs will be posted and bid for the summer months, each school year. Primary substitute positions will also be posted and awarded at the same time.
B. Summer runs are defined as any run other than an extra run from the day following the last day of school until the last day preceding the start of the next school year.
C. If there is a need for a substitute driver for any summer run, the primary substitute for that route will be called. If the primary substitute is not available, then the substitutes on the summer rotation list will be called. If these lists are exhausted without finding a qualified substitute, the transportation director may assign the route to any qualified personnel.
D. Substitute for summer bus runs are those regular drivers who were not selected for the regular summer runs. Rotation will be by seniority. If on occasion additional drivers are needed, these too shall be taken from the list of summer substitutes.
E. A driver who receives a summer run position will have up to five (5) unpaid days to use during the time of the position. Should the driver use more than five (5) unpaid days, they will forfeit the run and the run will be filled through the seniority process. Personal time and vacation time may not be used during the summer run period.
