Teachers on Leave. (348) In the event of a reduction in staff, any teacher on approved general leave shall be considered in the same status as an actively employed tenure teacher. Approved leaves of absence and their extensions past or future shall not constitute a break in service. Time on general leave shall count for seniority purposes for only those leaves listed in Paragraph 179 and for the Association President. Seniority credit shall not accumulate for any period a teacher is eligible to receive long term disability insurance benefits under Appendix D of this Agreement.
Teachers on Leave. The Scheme will apply to teachers absent on authorised paid leave. Teachers absent on personal leave and long service or on special leave approved by the diocesan director will receive the full entitlement. No benefits will be received by teachers on leave without pay.
Teachers on Leave. Eligible teachers on unpaid leave may not participate in the 403(b) annuity-matching program while on leave. An eligible teacher may elect to re-enter the 403(b) annuity-matching program upon their return.
Teachers on Leave. Teachers who are on any leave of absence, shall be considered members of the active teaching staff of OTTAS and therefore shall be subject to all provisions of this Article 20.
Teachers on Leave. Continued medical insurance coverage will be afforded to such teachers at no expense to the District. Individuals will assume their own payments at the current group rate. Individual arrangements must be made with the Finance Office.

Eligible teachers may elect to reenter the 403(b) annuity matching program upon their return. An eligible teacher returning in the middle of the school year may reenter the 403(b) annuity matching program beginning with the next school year. Eligible teachers on paid leave, including a sabbatical leave, may participate in the 403(b) annuity matching program during their period of leave, on a pro rata basis. In any event, notification of election must be given to the Business Manager by September 1 for that school year pursuant to Subd. 4 (a) of this section. During the period of a leave, the School District will make a pro rata matching contribution. Should a teacher fail to return to employment with the School District after the termination of a sabbatical leave, the teacher shall reimburse the School District for any matching contribution made during said leave, except in the event of discontinuance of the teacher’s position as provided in Article XVI.
Teachers on Leave. Insurance programs which are normally paid through payroll deductions may be retained by the teacher at the teacher's own expense while such teacher is on any prolonged unpaid leave (including but not limited to a leave for which compensation has expired), provided first, that the underwriter(s) involved as well as the State of Indiana allow such arrangement, and provided second, that the arrangement is otherwise legal.
