UNION DUTY LEAVE. (a) An Employee, with the supervisor's approval, may be granted up to five (5) working days' Union Duty Leave, without pay, per calendar year, to attend to YusApuY business, provided that a written or electronic request for such leave has been submitted to the Employee's supervisor at least ten (10) working days in advance. (b) An Employee shall be granted Union Duty Leave, without pay, of up to one (1) month to undertake the responsibility of acting President or acting First Vice- President, provided that a written or electronic request for such leave has been submitted to the supervisor as far in advance as possible. (c) Union Duty Leave may be extended upon written notification to the Representative designated by the AVP, Department of Human Resources and Employee Relations as set out in Articles 25.01 (a) and (b). (d) Requests for such leave as set out in Articles 25.01 (a) and (b) shall not be unreasonably denied. (a) Employees shall be granted up to twelve (12) months' Union Duty Leave, without pay, to fill full-time YusApuY positions upon written or electronic notification to the appropriate Deans, Department Heads or authorized representatives. Such notification shall be provided at least one (1) month in advance. (b) The Parties agree that the YusApuY position of second (2nd) Vice-President shall be allowed two (2) union duty leave days per month. In the event of a temporary or indefinite vacancy in this position YusApuY may designate in writing a replacement. (c) The Parties agree that the YusApuY position of Treasurer shall be allowed six (6) hours union duty leave per month (with YusApuY reimbursing the Employer for the pay for these hours) provided that a written or electronic request for such leave has been submitted to the Employee’s supervisor at least ten (10) working days in advance. In the event of a temporary or indefinite vacancy in this position YusApuY may designate in writing a replacement. (d) Upon receiving written or electronic confirmation of the Employee's availability to return to their bargaining unit position, the Employer shall reinstate the Employee to their former position, if it exists, or a comparable position if it does not. (e) Union Duty Leave may be extended indefinitely upon written notification to the Representative designated by the AVP, Department of Human Resources and Employee Relations, one (1) month prior to the completion of the previous leave. Such leave shall be without pay and without loss of seniority and shall be limited to not more than two
UNION DUTY LEAVE. 25.01 With the supervisor's approval, an employee may be granted up to five (5) working days' leave of absence without pay, per calendar year, to attend to Union business, provided that a written request for such leave has been submitted to the employee's supervisor at least two (2) weeks in advance. In addition, an employee shall be granted up to one (1) month's leave of absence without pay to undertake the responsibility of acting President, provided that a written request for such leave has been submitted to the supervisor as far in advance as possible. Requests for such leave which meet the above conditions shall not be unreasonably denied. (a) Upon written notification to the appropriate Deans, Department Heads, or authorized representatives, employees shall be granted up to twelve (12) months’ leave of absence, without pay, to fill full-time positions in the Union. Such notification shall be provided at least one (1) month in advance. Approval of the Xxxx, Department Head, or authorized representative shall be required when more than one (1) employee from the same department intends to fill full-time positions in the Union. (b) Upon receiving written confirmation of the employee’s availability to return to work, the Employer shall reinstate the employee in that employee’s former position, if it exists, or a comparable position if it does not. (c) Such leave may be extended indefinitely upon written notification to the Manager, Employee Relations, one (1) month prior to the completion of the previous leave. Requests will be considered if received in writing at least seven (7) calendar days in advance to the appropriate Manager and if granted, such leave shall be without pay and without loss of seniority. 14.03 At the request of the Union, the University agrees to grant a two (2) hour period twice annually at a mutually agreed time for purposes of a regular membership meeting. UNION DUTY LEAVE. 17.01 In the event that an opportunity arises for a part time employee to attend at a Union function, the parties shall meet to discuss the possibility of the employee attending same. 17.02 An employee who is elected or appointed to a position within the Union for more than three (3) consecutive months but not more than three (3) years shall be granted upon request, in writing and fourteen (14) days in advance, a leave of absence. During such leave the employee will maintain seniority accrued to date of commencement of such leave. Upon receipt of a written request at least four (4) weeks in advance the University will return the employee to the same or comparable position that the employee was in at the start of the leave. In the event the original position no longer exists such employee will be placed in a vacancy in the employees former classification.

Requests will be considered if received in writing by the superintendent or manager at least fourteen (14) days in advance and, if granted, shall not exceed a total of forty (40) working days in any calendar year. Departmental operating requirements shall be the major consideration in granting/denying the leave, though the leave shall not be unreasonably denied. 17.02 An employee who is elected or appointed to a position within the Union for more than three (3) consecutive months but not more than three (3) years shall be granted upon request, in writing and fourteen (14) days in advance, a leave of absence. During such leave the employee will maintain seniority accrued to the date of commencement of such leave.
