UNION PAID EDUCATION LEAVE. 26.00 The Company agrees to pay into a special fund five cents ($0.05) per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Said paid education leave will be for the purpose of upgrading the employee's skills in all aspects of Trade Union functions. Such monies are to be paid on a quarterly basis into a trust fund established by the National Union, Unifor. A confirmation of such payment will be sent to Unifor Local 240. The Company further agrees that members of the bargaining unit, selected by the Union to attend such courses, will each be granted a leave of absence without pay for twenty (20) days of class time, plus travel time where necessary. Said leave of absence to be intermittent over a twelve (12) month period from the first day of leave. Employees on paid leave of absence will continue to accrue seniority and benefits during such leave.

Upon approval, the Company will pay 50% of the tuition after receiving documentation of registration and 50% upon receiving documentation that the course has been successfully completed and the Employee received a passing grade.

  • Union Education If the local union indicates to the Hospital that its members have approved a special assessment for union education in accordance with the CUPE constitution and local union by laws, the Hospital agrees to deduct this assessment. Such assessment will be paid on a quarterly basis into a trust fund established and administered by OCHU/CUPE for this purpose.

  • Union Leave (a) Upon receiving a written request at least one (1) week in advance from the Union, the Company will grant leave of absence for not more than two (2) employees at any one time to attend Union conferences, conventions, or workshops, providing that the combined leaves of absence will not exceed forty (40) working days in any one (1) calendar year. Such leaves of absence will be without pay but with maintenance and accumulation of benefits (normal payroll deductions to apply).

  • Union Leaves Employees on Union Leaves will be treated as provided in Article 18 (Q) while working on Union leave.

  • Blood Donation Leave Leave shall be granted to employees to donate blood at an onsite and Appointing Authority endorsed program.

  • Payment of Paid Personal/Carer’s Leave (a) If an employee takes a period of paid personal/xxxxx’s leave and meets the notice requirements set out at Clause 44.3 the employer must pay the employee at the employee’s base rate of pay for the employee’s ordinary hours of work in the period.
