Unpaid Discretionary Leaves. The Village may grant an unpaid leave of absence under this Article to any bargaining unit employee where the Village determines there is good and sufficient reason. The Village shall set the terms and conditions of the leave.

Unpaid Discretionary Leaves. The City may grant leaves of absence, without pay or salary, to employees for job-related reasons (such as further training or study), which will enable employees to perform their usual and customary duties with greater efficiency and expertise, or other valid reasons (such as prolonged illness of the employee, spouse, or child or children or childbirth). No leave, if granted, shall be for a period exceeding three hundred sixty-five (365) consecutive calendar days. The denial of discretionary leaves shall not be subject to the dispute resolution and grievance procedure of this Agreement.
Unpaid Discretionary Leaves. The City in its discretion may grant an unpaid leave of absence under this Article to any bargaining unit employee where the City determines there is good and sufficient reason. The City shall set the duration, terms and conditions of such leaves. Any request for unpaid discretionary leave shall be submitted in writing by the employee to the City or his designee as far in advance as practicable. The request shall state the reason for the leave of absence and the approximate length of time off the employee desires. Authorization for leave of absence shall, if granted, be furnished to the employee by the Fire Chief or his designee and it shall be in writing.

  • Unpaid Leave 6. Accrued compensatory time off may be used at the employee’s discretion, with management approval, after exhaustion of 100% sick leave (No. 3 above). However, FLSA compensatory time off shall not be counted against the employee’s four (4) month (nine [9] pay period [720 hours]) family or medical leave entitlement. Therefore, any use of FLSA compensatory time off under this Section shall extend the employee’s family or medical leave by the total amount of FLSA compensatory time off used.
