USING YOUR DEVICE AT SCHOOL iPad devices are intended for use every day at school. In addition to teacher expectations for iPad use, school messages, announcements, calendars, and schedules may be accessed using the iPad. Students should bring their iPad to all classes, unless specifically instructed not to do so by their teacher. If a laptop has been issued to a student, the laptop should be brought to the special course, unless specifically instructed not to do so by their teacher.

Teachers and staff will have the capability to monitor student activities on the student devices while on the district's network. Teachers will also have the capability and authority to lock a device down while in their respective classroom(s).

Devices left at home: For use of the devices in a school building (if applicable), if students leave their device at home, they are responsible for getting the course work completed as if they had their device present. Repeat violations will result in action as detailed in section Student Behavior Policy. Device Undergoing Repair Substitute devices may be issued to students when a device is undergoing repair as set out by Tazewell County Public Schools. There may be a delay in getting a substitute device should the school not have enough to loan. In such a case, students will be given hardcopy textbooks or other instructional material (where possible) to use. Students are responsible for the substitute device the same as they are for the original device. If a student damages a substitute device, the cost to repair the device will fall on the student and parent/guardian. If the student forgets to bring this replacement device to school, or comes to school with it uncharged (when applicable), a substitute will not be provided. Charging your devices battery Devices must be brought to school each day and/or ready for use at home at all scheduled times in a fully charged condition. Students must charge their devices each evening. It is the student responsibility to maintain the battery charger and all peripheral equipment which may be issued with the device and to have available and ready to use as needed. Screensavers/Backgrounds Any media deemed inappropriate by Tazewell County Public Schools staff may not be used as a screensaver or background photo. Presence of guns, weapons, pornographic materials, inappropriate language, alcohol, drugs, gang related symbols or pictures are prohibited and will result in actions as detailed in the Student Code of Conduct. Sound, Music, Games, or Programs Sound must be muted at all times unless permission is obtained from the teacher for instructional purposes. In addition to teacher expectations for device in-class use, textbooks, schools messages, announcements, planners, calendars, and schedules may be accessed using the device. Students are responsible for bringing their device, fully charged, to all classes unless specifically instructed not to do so by their teacher. 1.1 Devices left at home If the student leaves a checked out device at home, the student is responsible for completing all course work as if the device were present. 1.2 Devices undergoing repair Loaner or replacement devices may be issued to students when their assigned devices have been sent for repair and the damage fee has been paid (if applicable). 1.3 Charging your device’s battery Devices must be brought to school each day in a fully charged condition. *Warning: It may take up to five (5) hours to fully charge the device. Replacement chargers are available for purchase on campus, other chargers will not be satisfactory when we collect in May.
