Vacation Approval. An employee must have his/her request for use of vacation approved by the supervisor at least seven (7) days prior to the employee’s being away. This notice provision may be waived in an emergency or in other situations beyond the reasonable control of the employee.
Vacation Approval. The times during the calendar year at which an employee shall take his or her vacation shall be determined by the department head with due regard for the wishes of the employee and particular regard for the needs of the service. Wherever practical, employees working in the same classifications within a division shall be given preference of vacation time by seniority. If the requirements of the service are such that a department head cannot permit an employee within his or her department to take an annual vacation leave or any part of such leave within a particular calendar year, the City Manager may permit such employee to take the deferred vacation during the following year.

With advance supervisory approval, vacations may be taken in increments of one
(1) hour. The City may revise vacation accumulation provisions in order to standardize accounting procedures without effect on the amount of employees' vacation; subject to review and comment by the Union.

If only one employee asks for vacation and the department or division has granted vacation to the employee, his vacation request shall be honored without change by Management, except in case of emergency.

Vacation Approval. Schedule for vacations must be approved by the employee’s supervisor and the Assistant Superintendent for Business/Operations a minimum of five business days prior to the scheduled vacation. The employee must be notified of a denial at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled vacation. Exceptions to the notification requirements may be made at the employer’s sole discretion. Seniority will prevail. Approval of vacation dates may not be rescinded unless mutually agreed by both parties.
Vacation Approval. Unless the employees in a department vote to use an alternative method (as described below), vacation shall be approved using the standard method.

Supervisors shall respond to all vacation requests in writing within a reasonable time frame. Notwithstanding, the non-department head employees shall secure the approval of their supervisor by telephone or other means at the earliest opportunity to do so. Department heads are required to account for their vacation usage and report such usage to the Human Resources Office for any given pay period. Additionally, Department Heads shall enter all leave on the Employer’s Department Heads calendar, whenever practicable.
