Visioning and Community Outreach. After identifying CAC members at the kickoff meeting with input from the City, WSP will work with the City to develop a community vision for the subareas using a two-path process. First, WSP will convene a CAC with the City’s assistance to guide the subarea planning process. The CAC will develop a vision to frame the work and review the existing conditions analysis, concept alternatives, and a preferred alternative per subarea. The initial framework will include guiding principles, key project goals and outcomes for each subarea, and defined project area boundaries. Key to the committee’s work is the formation of a common understanding of how the planning process would proceed, so all stakeholders are operating under the same assumptions. Secondly, WSP will facilitate community engagement, to help establish a community vision within the framework developed by the CAC. Engagement methods will include the development of an information campaign through social media, and the City’s website, and tabling events. Community workshops and focus groups will also be conducted to ensure community members have a variety of ways to learn about the planning process, engage with the project team, and provide input to the community vision.
