Voluntary Shift Trades. Section 6.4.1 Employees wishing to voluntarily trade shifts must complete a request and submit it to their supervisor for approval.

Voluntary Shift Trades. An employee shall have the right to exchange a workday (Shift) with another employee upon their mutual agreement, subject to the approval of the Deputy Director within the command structure. The employee’s request shall not be unreasonably withheld. The shift trade must be both scheduled and completed within a six (6) month period. If an employee who agrees to work in place of a regularly scheduled employee calls in sick, the employee who calls in sick shall have leave deducted from their sick leave accrual bank, or another paid leave accrual bank if they have no sick leave, for the time not worked.
Voluntary Shift Trades. Within the same workweek, staff may voluntarily trade shifts with a shift supervisor’s approval, and provided that such shift trades do not generate any overtime. All requests to voluntarily trade a shift must be submitted in writing at least one workweek in advance and approved at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Employer retains the right to select a less senior employee whose overtime rate will be at time and one-half, if the more senior employee’s overtime rate for any of the overtime hours to be worked will be at double- time, or to replace an employee at the point that he or she would be working on less than ten (10) hours’ rest on the employee’s next scheduled shift.

  • Voluntary Layoff Appointing authorities will allow an employee in the same job classification and department where layoffs will occur to volunteer to be laid off provided that the employee is in a position requiring the same skills and abilities, as a position subject to layoff. Any volunteer for layoff shall have no formal layoff option. If the appointing authority accepts the employee’s voluntary request for layoff, the employee will submit a non-revocable letter stating they are accepting a voluntary layoff from the University. The employee will be placed on all applicable rehire lists.

  • Voluntary Redundancy a) With the exception of areas where there is only one position under review, Te Pūkenga will call for expressions of interest from kaimahi within the area of review who wish to volunteer for redundancy to cover the surplus/es positions that have been identified.
