Well-Being a focus on community A Compassionate Community Ready for the Future Our vibrant community spirit is our greatest strength, propelling the development of social initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all residents. We need to further improve our social services and support, bringing them up to an equal level of the European Netherlands wherever possible. In order to do so it is imperative to create an integral approach with the ministries of BZK, VWS, SZW and OCW and to update the Masterplan “Strong Roots” 2020-2025 to further enhance community development. This plan aims to bundle and coordinate more effectively the local execution of tasks in the areas of social domain including but not limited to wellbeing, social support, youth care, domestic violence and child abuse, the youth +13 program, collective prevention, education and equal opportunities in education. In addition, an important step in achieving an integral approach will be the creation and implementation of a single point of service provision (één loket) for services for community development, along with a a back-office system for the collection, storage and exchange of relevant data concerning the target group and citizen-clients. The overarching goal of this single point of service provision and ancillary back-office support is to reduce bureaucracy and improve the quality and speed of services. All parties are committed to reach an updated version in the first half of 2024, with the public entity taking the first step by firstly implementing the necessary policies concerning social support, labor market, culture, youth and poverty alleviation by Q1 2024. Moreover, significant steps are on the horizon for our social housing ambitions, with plans to realize more than 150 houses (renovation and the construction of new houses) in the coming period. Towards this purpose, in 2022 a letter of intent has been signed. These ambitions are also connected to poverty reduction, as a subsidy system to lower the costs of housing will be introduced in the private rental sector, in line with the Policy Agenda Public Housing and Spatial Planning Caribbean Netherlands. We aim to actively nurture innovation and creativity among our youth and (start-up) businesses. This is also connected to poverty reduction, as a subsidy system will be introduced to lower the costs of living. Sint Eustatius faces the urgent need for transformation, but we can only succeed with the support of our strong and resil...

Well-Being. There is strong evidence that when teachers experience joyfulness and enjoyment within their job and work environment, student achievement increases (Xxxxxx & Xxxxxxxxx, 2015). Teacher well-being is “a construct involving teachers’ models of the quality of their personal, professional and relational selves” (Xxxxx et al., 2011, p. 27). Current research reveals that teacher well-being has a critical impact on student academic success and performance (Xxxxxxxx & Xxxxxxxx, 2016). Teacher burnout not only impacts the quality of life of educators but has also been linked to the reduction of student motivation (Xxxx et al., 2015). Hence, student development and advancement are directly linked to and are dependent on the sound psychological and physical well-being of educators (Xxxxx et al., 2015). Furthermore, improved teacher well-being supports positive teacher-student relationships (Xxxxx et al., 2013). Supportive teacher-student relationships increase student self-esteem, grade point averages, engagement, behavior, and decreases signs of student depression (Xxxxx et al., 2013). On the other hand, teachers who do not manage their well-being exhibit traits of burnout and demonstrate minimal patience with students, which leads to devastating effects on student confidence and achievement (Xxxxxxxx, 2016). Research has shown a significant correlation between teacher well-being, students’ academic performance, and the quality of student-teacher relationships (Xxxxxxxx et al., 2014). Teacher Self-Efficacy Xxxxxxx and Xxxxxxx (1977) defined self-efficacy as an individual’s belief in their ability to attain a goal. The personal efficacy of educators plays an instrumental role in their ability to function within the educational setting (Bandura, 1997). Xxxxxxx (2010) pointed out that teacher self-efficacy has been linked to improving student achievement, increasing student motivation, strengthening educator’s job commitment, and increasing job satisfaction. As educators’ assurance in their ability to perform their occupational responsibilities increases, there is a shift in motivation that enhances their capacity to complete professional tasks and overcome obstacles (X’Xxxxx & Xxxxxxxxxx, 2012). Also, teachers with heightened self-efficacy have a longer and more fulfilling career due to reduced stress (Xxxxxxx et al., 2010). Research has suggested that the factors that influence teacher self-efficacy negatively include overcrowded classes, minimal authority over decis...

Well-Being. Well-being is the state or condition of being well; welfare; happiness; prosperity. There are two complementary conceptualisations of well-being suggested by Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxx:
Well-Being. Previous reviews of health and well-being have noted the benefits of incorporating mindfulness not only into performance but also lifestyle. Neuro-scientific research has shown that mindfulness creates changes in the neural networks underlying emotional regulation (Xxxxxx et al., 2008). Xxxxxx and Xxxxx (2010) supported this finding by providing evidence that there was a decrease in the amygdala response after mindfulness was used within anxious patients. Mindfulness has been shown to have beneficial changes in cognitive processing, thus reducing rumination which can lead to negative impact on performance. Athletes who practice mindfulness can learn to monitor their moment-by-moment experiences so that they can ‘step back’ from the negative or distressing thoughts and feelings in order to view them as mental events and not reality (Xxxx et al., 2013). There are also many studies that show the benefits of mindfulness in stress management. Xxxxxxxx et al. (2003) reported that mindfulness increases immune functioning and produces brain changes which enables more effective handling of emotions when under stress. Another study (Xxxxxxxxx et al., 2006) showed that mindfulness can reduce the symptoms of burnout as well as improving life satisfaction. Many researchers (Xxxxxx & Xxxxxxxxx, 2007; Xxxxxxx et al., 2007; Xxxxxxx et al., 2019; Xxxxxxxxx et al., 2016) have stated that preventing or even reducing burnout is viewed as an important issue in the sport psychology literature.
