Xxxx Leave Use. Sick leave may be used for personal illness, off-the-job injury, and immediate family illness. Immediate family illness includes maternity or paternity leave and enforced quarantine.
Xxxx Leave Use. Certified employees may be granted sick leave in cases of personal illness from natural causes, accidents, pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth, and recovery therefrom. Use of sick leave shall be governed in accordance with the Personnel Law and the County's Administrative Procedure with the following exception: Requests for sick leave because of illness which incapacitates the employee must be made as far in advance as possible, but, under normal conditions, not later than two (2) hours before the scheduled starting time of the employee's work shift.

An employee taking an anticipated sick leave shall provide reasonable advance notice to their Department Head or designee. It is agreed between the parties that sick leave use can have a detrimental effect on the daily operation of Fire Rescue, including the workload of other Fire Rescue employees, the level of service Fire Rescue provides to the public, and the safety of the other employees. Palm Beach County and Professional Firefighters/Paramedics of Local 2928 agree to make every effort to express the importance of dependability and reliability in regards to employee's attendance to all members of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. This article is intended as a comprehensive approach to minimizing the use of sick leave to only those bona fide circumstances as provided for in Section D of this section. In order to be effective, two major thrusts have been incorporated into the Article; a disincentive approach, and an incentive approach.
Xxxx Leave Use. Sick leave shall be allowed an employee under the following conditions. The Employer reserves the right to require medical verification or appropriate proof when sick leave is requested for any reason listed below. The Employer will not make unreasonable requests for sick leave verification.
