ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS Clause Samples

The "ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS" clause defines the terms and conditions specific to teachers assigned to alternative education programs within a school district. ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS. The alternative education administration, working cooperatively with teachers, will determine each teacher’s class structure. Teachers will be provided one (1) hour for each four (4) hours of classroom instruction time for a planning period. A full time teacher will be defined as a teacher who instructs twenty- four (24) or more classroom hours per week.
ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS. Students will be enrolled in a variety of online subjects, therefore, the teachers are not responsible for the preparation or delivery of content. The teachers will not be eligible for the dual prep stipend. In addition to Article 7 Section E Classroom Needs, all teachers in this program shall have their own assigned workspace, which will have a telephone and working computers. The teacher shall be assigned to the regular high school schedule unless a flexible schedule is mutually agreed upon by the teacher and administrator. An administrator shall be present in the building during the mutually agreed upon flexible hours. Enrolled special education students shall have an assigned special education teacher other than the alternative education teacher.
ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS when teaching during a school day shall have as a part of their normal hours: A. A one (1) hour per day paid preparation period five (5) days per week. Teachers shall adjust their preparation time schedules to provide for attendance at regularly scheduled staff meetings. B. Six (6) hours of student contact time five (5) days per week.
ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS. 1. Non instructional team teaching time may be included as preparation time. In addition, each alternative education teacher will be provided with one (1) day of planning (with a substitute provided) each year. Said day of planning is to be scheduled at the discretion of the teacher, pending the availability of subs. A teacher may also accumulate a compensated day in the following manner: Six (6) hours of time spent at an administratively assigned function for compensation. Such time must be accrued beyond the length of the teacher’s day and year. Compensatory time is limited to two (2) days per school year and is to be scheduled for use per Article V(B)(6)(b). 2. Common planning time of one and a half (1 1/2) hours per week will be used only for the planning of instruction by the teaching staff. Clerical duties will not be required of the staff during common planning time. 3. Common planning time is included in prep time calculations. 4. There will be a one half hour (1/2) staff meeting per week. Staff meeting time may be used for clerical duties, discussion of student discipline and general school business.
ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS. Students will be enrolled in a variety of online subjects, therefore, the teachers are not responsible for the preparation or delivery of content; as such, the alternative education teacher is acting in the capacity of a mentor teacher. The mentor teacher shall be a certified WBEA teacher. The teachers will not be eligible for the dual prep stipend.
