Ceremonial and Cultural Leave. 36.1 Employees are entitled to one day as paid leave to participate in activities for ceremonial and cultural reasons (including during NAIDOC Week). This can be taken as either a full day absence or several short absences to the equivalent of one day across the week.

Ceremonial and Cultural Leave. 48.1. Employees required by Indigenous tradition to be absent from work for Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander ceremonial purposes, or who want to celebrate cultural or religious days of observance not included in existing work arrangements, will be entitled to up to three days unpaid leave a year. 48.2. Ceremonial and cultural leave must first be approved by the employee's manager.

This includes for the purposes of participating in NAIDOC week or for other legitimate purposes (including where a person who is related to the employee (according to Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander kinship) has died, sustains an injury that poses a serious threat to life or contracts or develops a personal illness which is a serious threat to life. 60.2 Ceremonial and cultural leave must be approved by the employee’s manager. 60.3 For clarity, an entitlement under this clause 60 can only be granted if the employee does not have an entitlement to take paid leave under Clause 54 (Compassionate leave)
Ceremonial and Cultural Leave. An employee who is legitimately required by Aboriginal, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander or other cultural tradition to be absent from work for ceremonial purposes or significant events will be entitled to up to 10 working days' unpaid leave in any one year, with the approval of the employer. This leave is non-cumulative. Notice must be given one month in advance of taking the leave.

The Employer may require the Employee in these circumstances to provide information that verifies the nature of the relationship. b) Ceremonial obligations under Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander lore (law) and are inclusive of Sorry Business, National Sorry Day, NAIDOC Week celebrations, or a ceremonial bereavement obligation defined by the individual’s customary lore/law. 60.2 Permanent and temporary Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander Employees may be granted 1 day of paid Ceremonial & Cultural Leave each year where the Employee will be participating in official NAIDOC week celebrations. This entitlement does not accrue if unused in 1 year. Casual Employees may apply for leave without pay. 60.3 The Employee must be able to establish to the Employer that they have an obligation under Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander custom and/ or traditional law to participate in ceremonial activities to be granted such leave. 60.4 Ceremonial Leave granted under this entitlement in cases of a death of a member of the immediate or extended family will be taken consistent with clause 54 (Compassionate Leave).

  • Cultural and Ceremonial Leave 61.1 An employee is entitled to up to five days unpaid cultural leave for cultural and ceremonial obligations each 12 months for the purposes of undertaking their cultural or ceremonial obligations for the community or group to which the employee belongs. 61.2 The CEO may, on application grant leave subject to clauses 61.4 and 61.5. 61.3 The CEO will have regard for an employee’s cultural or ceremonial obligations, and may grant a further period of unpaid cultural and ceremonial leave.

  • Cultural Leave Where such leave is approved by the employer, teachers participating in recognised cultural activities within New Zealand or outside New Zealand are entitled to leave with pay on the same conditions as for sports leave.

  • Ceremonial Leave An employee who is legitimately required by Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander tradition to be absent from work for Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander ceremonial purposes will be entitled to up to ten working days unpaid leave in any one year, with the approval of the employer.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

Each day, or part thereof, shall be deducted from: a) the Employee's annual leave entitlements (where applicable); b) the Employee’s accrued long service leave entitlements, but in full days only; or c) accrued days off or time in lieu.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.

  • Orientation The Employer shall provide planned and paid Orientation Programs of such content and duration as it deems appropriate taking into consideration the needs of the Employer and the Nurses involved. Such Nurses will not be considered part of core staffing during their Orientation Program nor will they be provided with primary assignments.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.

  • Health Leave Any regular employee of the District may, at the discretion of the Board, be granted a leave of absence without pay for reasons of health, such leave to be specified for a period of not more than one year. Such leave may be extended in case of serious health conditions.
