Commencing Salaries. (i) Where a minimum and maximum salary are prescribed for a position, an Employee appointed transferred or promoted to the position:
(A) shall commence at the minimum salary; and
(B) shall proceed by the prescribed increments to the maximum salary.
(ii) Where the Employer is satisfied that the Employee has special qualifications or experience relevant to the duties of the position which warrant commencement at a salary above the minimum rate, the Employer may commence an Employee at a higher rate (but not exceeding the maximum rate) than the base as the Employer seems appropriate to the qualifications or experience.
Commencing Salaries. 1.1.1 When setting the commencing grading/level this shall be done in terms of the appropriate salary criteria set out in this Agreement.
1.1.2 When setting the commencing salary for any new employee, the employer shall give credit for service which is relevant to the position to which the employee is being appointed, taking into account internal relativities for each employer. This clause is not intended to change the existing starting salary setting practice within that employer.
Commencing Salaries. 5.4.1 Placement of New Employees on Salary Scales
a) When determining the appropriate placement of new employees (who have current NZ registration) on the automatic steps of the core RT salary scale, the employer shall recognise all previous service working as a radiation therapist and radiation therapy assistant.
5.4.2 Employees from overseas who are completing registration requirements shall be paid as a minimum on step 1 of the Radiation Therapist salary scale.

22.3.1 (c) Recognition of service for the purposes of increments
(i) Where a casual or fixed term Employee secures an ongoing role (full time or part time) their period of regular and systematic engagement as a casual or fixed term Employee will be recognised as period(s) of service to determine the appropriate increment to commence their period of engagement as an ongoing Employee provided that there is not a break of more than three (3) months.
Commencing Salaries. From the commencement of this agreement, 1 May 2020, the minimum entry level for pharmacists shall be:
i. Step 1 where the minimum professional requirements is a three or four-year Bachelor’s degree
Commencing Salaries. The minimum entry level for Dental Therapists covered by the salary scale shall be:
a) Step 1 where the minimum professional requirements is a three or four-year Bachelor degree The minimum professional requirements are those specified by the relevant registration body. There is no provision for a higher commencing salary for individuals holding a higher qualification than the minimum professional requirement.
Commencing Salaries. The minimum entry level for disciplines covered by the Allied & Public Health Salary Scale shall be:
a) Step 1 where the minimum professional requirement is a 3 or 4 year bachelor’s degree.
b) Step 2 where the minimum professional qualification for practice is a Bachelors Degree + 1 year Internship or up to 2 years of graduate qualifications.
c) Step 3 where the minimum professional qualification for practice is a Bachelors degree and a 2 year graduate or Masters Degree qualification.
d) Entry levels above the minimum provided for above shall be determined with due consideration to service which is directly relevant to the position. a) Step 1 where the minimum professional requirement is a 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree.
b) Step 2 where the minimum professional qualification for practice is a Bachelor’s degree + 1 year Internship or up to 2 years of graduate qualifications.
c) Step 3 where the minimum professional qualification for practice is a Bachelor’s degree and a 2 year graduate or Master’s degree qualification. The minimum professional requirements are those specified by the relevant registration body. There is no provision for a higher commencing salary for individuals holding a higher qualification than the minimum professional requirement.
Commencing Salaries. When determining the actual rate payable on appointment, the General Manager shall have regard to the following factors:
(a) Previous work or other relevant experience.
(b) Relevant educational or other qualifications.
(c) The ease or difficulty in recruiting the specific skills and/or experience required for the position.
