Higher Duties Allowance. (a) An employee who is appointed to perform temporarily all of the duties of a higher classified position and who performs all such duties required to be performed during the appointment will be paid an allowance equal to the difference between their substantive salary and the minimum salary of the higher classified position for all the time during which the employee performs such duties. Where it is specified at the commencement of the higher duties allowance that the employee is to undertake part of the duties of the higher position only, a lesser amount, which will normally be a percentage of the full amount, will be paid. (b) No allowance will be payable pursuant to subclause 12.1(a) unless the employee performs the duties of the higher classified position for a period in excess of one (1) week or in excess of two (2) consecutive working days for trades staff. (c) No allowance will be payable pursuant to subclause 12.1(a) to an employee whose position is designated as a “deputy” or equivalent of a more senior employee, whose normal duties as specified by their job description include deputising for that more senior employee and who is deputising while the senior employee is absent on duty or for periods of leave for up to four (4) weeks. (d) An employee who has been in receipt of a higher duties allowance for more than one (1) month will be paid such allowance for all paid leave taken during that period. (e) An employee who has been relieving continuously in a position for a period in excess of 12 months who retires, resigns or is retrenched by the University will receive payment for accrued leave entitlements at the higher rate of pay on termination of employment. (f) Where an employee in receipt of a higher duties allowance works on a public holiday, the relevant shift loading or overtime rate will be applied to the higher duties allowance for time worked on that day.

Higher Duties Allowance. 8.1.1 A higher duties allowance shall be paid to an employee who, at the request of the employer is substantially performing the duties and carrying the responsibilities of a position or grade higher than the employee’s own 8.1.2 Except as provided for under clause 8.1.3 the higher duties allowance payable shall be $3.00 per hour provided a minimum of 8 consecutive hours of qualifying service is worked per day or shift. 8.1.3 Where an employee performs the duties of the higher position for more than five consecutive days, the allowance payable shall be the difference between the current salary of the employee acting in the higher position, and the minimum salary the employee would receive if appointed to that position.
Higher Duties Allowance. 9.1 Where an employee is temporarily appointed or seconded to a higher graded position for a period of 5 or more consecutive working days the employee will receive a higher duties allowance for the whole period of that appointment. 9.2 The higher duties allowance payable shall be the difference between the current salary of the employee acting in the higher position and the minimum salary the employee would receive if appointed to that position.
Higher Duties Allowance. (a) Subject to sub-clauses (b), (c) and (d) of this clause, an employee who is called upon to relieve an employee in a higher classification or is called upon to act in a vacant position of a higher classification, shall be entitled to receive for the period of relief or the period during which he or she so acts the minimum payment for such higher classification. (b) The provisions of sub clause (a) of this clause shall not apply where the employee of the higher classification is off duty pursuant to sub-clause 14.2(m) - Arrangement of Hours, except insofar as a Director of Nursing accumulates days off for a continuous period of one week or more; nor when an employee in a higher grade is absent from duty by reason of his/her additional day off duty as a consequence of working a 38 hour week. (c) Further, the provisions of sub-clause (a) of this clause shall not apply where a Director of Nursing is absent from duty for a period of three working days or less for any reason other than pursuant to sub-clause 14.2(m) - Arrangement of Hours. (d) Subject to sub-clauses (b) and (c) above, the provisions of sub-clause (a) shall not apply where a day worker is being relieved and is absent from duty for a period of three consecutive working days or less which have been rostered in advance.
Higher Duties Allowance a. The employer shall approve payment of a higher duties allowance to an employee who is required to undertake the full duties and responsibilities of a higher graded position during the temporary absence of the occupant of that position, and who competently discharges those higher duties. Payment at a lesser rate shall be approved for an employee who is required to undertake only some of the duties and responsibilities of positions at a higher level. b. The rate of the allowance will be calculated by taking the difference between the salary of the employee acting in the position and the minimum salary rate of the level of the higher position, or by paying an amount of 6 ½ percent of the salary of the employee acting in the position, whichever is the greater amount. Where the payment of the full rate of the allowance is not justified, the rate is to be that proportion of the full allowance that the duties and responsibilities, competently performed, bear to the whole of the higher duties and responsibilities. c. The minimum qualifying period is 15 consecutive working days actually undertaking the higher duties and responsibilities and this criterion must be met on each occasion that the higher duties are performed. d. When an employee is promoted to a position that they have previously undertaken full duties and responsibilities of, and for which a higher duties allowance has been paid, then the appointment to that position may be backdated to the date that the higher duties were taken up.
Higher Duties Allowance. ‌ 10.3.1 A higher duties allowance will be paid to xxxxxxx who, by agreement, act in a higher position for a period of at least five consecutive days. Approved leave will neither count towards nor interrupt the qualifying period. 10.3.2 Kaimahi may be asked to act in a higher position for less than five consecutive days without any additional payment.

Higher Duties Allowance. Where a role needs to be filled for 2 or more working weeks, higher duties allowance will be paid to any temporary occupants of the role acting at a classification higher than their substantive classification level. Higher duties allowance will be equal to the difference between the employeescurrent salary and the salary that would be payable if they were promoted to the higher classification level, or a higher amount determined by the Commissioner. The Commissioner may determine a higher amount of higher duties allowance, having regard to factors including: previous periods of higher duties at or above the proposed higher duties classification; performance, including during previous periods of higher duties; and relevant experience and/or skills. Where an employee is found to be eligible for salary progression at their acting classification level they will receive an appropriate increase in the rate of higher duties allowance. The employee’s salary level will be retained for all future periods of acting regardless of elapsed time. Where an employee is assigned only part of the higher duties, the Commissioner will determine the amount of allowance payable. Higher duties allowance will be payable while an employee is acting at a higher classification as part of a job sharing arrangement where the duration of the arrangement is at least 2 working weeks. The Commissioner may shorten the qualifying period for higher duties allowance on a case-by-case basis including if the Commissioner determines there are special circumstances associated with the higher duties, including the requirement to exercise significant delegated authority. The Commission will make compulsory employer contributions as required by the applicable legislation and fund requirements. Employer superannuation contributions will be paid on behalf of employees during periods of paid leave that count as service. The Commission will make employer superannuation contributions to any eligible superannuation fund, provided that it accepts payment by fortnightly electronic funds transfer (EFT) using a file generated by the Commission's payroll system. The Commission will provide an employer contribution of 15.4 per cent of the employee’s Fortnightly Contribution Salary (FCS) for employees in the Public Sector Superannuation Accumulation Plan (PSSap) and Ordinary Time Earnings (OTE) for employees in other accumulation funds. Higher Duties Allowance. 36.1 Please note that if you work in a higher paid position for one work period or more, you will be paid the rate appropriate for that position while you are so working. The employer may approve payment for periods of less than one work period. Prior to commencing a period of advanced capacity, you will: i) Agree on the period with your manager; and ii) Agree on the appropriate rate for the position (if there is more than one rate for the role) 36.2 Continuous periods of advanced capacity exceeding 3 months will be reviewed and any continuation will be subject to further agreement between you and the manager.
