COMPENSATION FOR COVERING CLASSES. All secondary Teachers shall be guaranteed a daily preparation. In the event that a Teacher is asked by an administrator to act as a substitute Teacher during their preparation period, they shall be paid the same hourly rate as the current voluntary pay (1 hour for each class period that they substitute), as long as one of the following criteria applies: 1. The absence is the result of a required school sponsored activity, in which case the program sponsoring the activity will pay the cost for that period. In the event it is coaching related, the cost will be paid from the stipend of the coach or advisor who is absent. 2. The absence is due to a medical appointment that could not be scheduled outside of school time or was an emergency illness. In these cases, the cost for that period will be paid out of the funds allotted for illness. 3. The absence is reported according to policy in a timely manner and a substitute does not show or is not available. In these cases, the district will pay using funds from the program or budget that would have been used for the substitute. Teachers who receive this pay will be required to submit a form documenting an extra hour of prep time after school that would have been used had s/he not been asked to substitute. This completed form will be submitted as the request for the stipend for performing voluntary extra duties. 19.11.1 In the event that an elementary teacher covers another full class, due to a shortage of substitutes, the teacher shall be compensated at the daily rate of a certified substitute. In the event that an elementary or secondary Teacher is out for extended medical leave, excluding parental leave, and is unable to fulfill the planning duties required, a Teacher designated by the principal will be compensated at the negotiated rate for planning and curriculum.

COMPENSATION FOR COVERING CLASSES. 49 1 Employees assigned to cover classes will receive compensation at the individual Employee 2 professional rate of pay, for each period covered, provided planning time is lost by the 3 Employee or such coverage assignment results in work served beyond the work day.
COMPENSATION FOR COVERING CLASSES. 3.1 Any employee who is required to cover a class which results in his/her forfeiting his/her preparation period or duty-free lunch time shall be compensated at the rate of $12/class period if a timesheet is turned in by the 20th of each month.
COMPENSATION FOR COVERING CLASSES. Certified employees that are assigned to cover for an absentee certified employee during their own lunch or planning period will be paid seven dollars and fifty cents ($7.50) per thirty minute period or major portion thereof. The administration will make every effort to fill these assignments on a voluntary basis. If no one volunteers for the duty, the Principal will appoint someone to cover for the absent teacher. To qualify for this section, the certified employee must be absent from the building and a substitute is not employed. However, situations requiring the certified employee's participation in school business (as determined by the Principal) within the building may also fall under this section. (Amended 2015)

No employee shall cover more than one (1) class at a time, including his/her own. Compensation for covering classes shall be made monthly. Employees shall turn in time sheets delineating such service weekly.

In the event that no certified personnel volunteers to fill the position, certified personnel will be assigned to substitute on a rotating basis with all certified personnel to be included within the rotation.
COMPENSATION FOR COVERING CLASSES. The Board will provide compensation at the rate of twenty-five dollars ($25) per period for those teachers asked by an administrator to cover for absent employees during his/her conference period. A teacher xxx refuse to cover a class if it is during his/her conference period. Periods covered need to be submitted to the treasurer prior to each payroll to receive compensation. Teacher Coverage Report must be used in Appendix C.

COMPENSATION FOR COVERING CLASSES. In consideration for teachers covering classes for other teachers when no substitutes are available, the Board of Education will contribute 50 days annually to the Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank. A teacher (as defined by those on a certified teacher contract) who is assigned to sub for a long-term absence of another teacher; an open, posted position; or covering the duty of an unfilled Xxxxx Education Services teacher sub during their regularly scheduled prep time will be eligible for additional compensation. A teacher that is reassigned to cover a class for the day will be eligible for compensation for the prep time missed from the regular assignment. Compensation will be a portion of $20/hr equivalent to the timeframe covered. A teacher (as defined by those on a certified teacher contract) who is assigned additional responsibilities as defined in the Employee Handbook will be eligible for $20/day. Additional qualifying responsibilities will be determined by the building principal on a case by case basis.

Vacancies, Reassignment, and Transfers 34 The Board recognizes that it is desirable in making assignments to 35 consider the interests and aspirations of its employees. The District 36 will give consideration to the preference indicated by the Employee. 37 However, that preference may be denied if it is not in the best interest 38 of the District. 39
