Professional Duties. The parties recognize that the University accomplishes a variety of academic and professional services including undergraduate, graduate, and professional instruction, research and community service. The professional duties required of the faculty shall be in accordance with the mission of the University. Individual workload assignments of members of the bargaining unit shall be consistent with the practice of their department, program, or unit. Claims of inconsistency with such practices by members of the bargaining unit shall be grievable as a Category Two grievance under the contract grievance procedure (Article IX).
Professional Duties. 1. The Board of Education and Association agree to an instructional schedule which provides for a late start of one hour and 15 minutes.
2. The day shall be 7 hours and 30 minutes, except on the last working day of the week. The last working day of the week shall end immediately following the dismissal of students.
a. The noticed reporting times shall be considered the normal duty day unless the staff is notified one week in advance of a time change. The one-week notification may be waived due to an unforeseen emergency.
b. The normal duty day may be altered up to two times each school year for the purpose of open house/enrollment fair type of non-supervisory professional activities. Teacher and administrator input will decide the best use of these evenings’ activities.
c. The duty day shall be 6 hours and 45 minutes on Wednesdays of identified conference weeks.
3. The instructional day shall be 7 hours and 15 minutes four days of the week. On the late- start day the instructional day shall be 6 hours (part-time / shared-time educators are not covered by this provision of the contract).
4. The time provided teachers by the late start schedule will be used for:
(a) staff meetings,
(b) SILT/NCA/QPA meetings,
(c) ad hoc and/or building committee meetings,
(d) Curriculum Council meetings,
(e) Professional Development Council meetings,
(f) team/individual planning,
(g) grade level/departmental meetings,
(h) K-12, cross building meetings,
(i) student staffings,
(j) district/building inservice, and/or
(k) parent meetings
(l) Superintendent’s Council
(m) District Leadership Team
5. A Late Start Wednesday in its entirety, in months when at least 4 Wednesdays are available for meeting, will be used for collaborative team planning for primary and intermediate teachers. The agenda is to be formulated by educators involved in said meeting.
6. Educators are to check in and out at a place designated by the building administrator. Any educator desiring to leave the grounds before the required time shall first notify and receive permission from the building administrator or his/her designee before leaving.
7. Any time set aside during the duty day and classified as planning time shall be used by the educator to improve or maintain his/her instructional skills in his/her regular assignment. Professional Duties. 1. Unit members may be expected to perform twenty (20) hours of related duties listed below which are beyond the regular workday.
a. Attendance at ancillary pupil staffing and personnel meetings;
b. Development of pupil evaluation tests and criterion instruments;
c. Parent conferences and home visits including IEP and 504 and SST meetings;
d. Contact with agencies to obtain support and/or services for students;
e. Development and membership on an advisory committee relative to the employee’s instruction;
f. Attendance at in-service sponsored or organized by the department or Superintendent;
g. Participation in School Site Council meetings as the designated teacher representative.
2. A full-time unit member whose regular work year exceeds the standard work year may be required to perform related duties for a prorated number of hours beyond the twenty (20) hours. A current record of all required hours shall be maintained at the job site.
3. Part-time unit members will work a proportionate share of the above hours, prorated according to the number of periods of teaching or rendering of other services.
4. When a unit member has performed related duties in excess of fifteen (15) hours in a school year the unit member shall immediately notify his/her supervisor in writing. Any time beyond twenty (20) hours must be authorized in writing in advance by the supervisor in order to be eligible for equivalent off duty time or be compensated at the prorated per diem rate.
5. Participation and attendance at Open House and/or Back to School events are part of a unit member’s professional duty and not counted toward the time provisions of Paragraph 1 above.
6. Professional Learning Community meetings and WASC committee meetings typically take place during the duty day. While the intent of the parties is to conclude such meetings within the duty day, both teachers and administration are involved in the agenda and for moving the meetings to closure in an efficient manner. As such, any time beyond the work day up to fifteen minutes shall not count toward the time provisions of Paragraph 1 above. Time in excess of 15 minutes may be counted. At least one shortened Wednesday per month starting in September will not be subject to administrator scheduling.
Professional Duties. All employees are required to perform professional duties outside the normal workday. These duties include:
Professional Duties. In addition to the basic professional duties, Teachers are responsible for other professional duties which include a reasonable number and length of both formal and informal parent/guardian meetings, parent/guardian conferences, faculty and District meetings, Back-to-School Night, and Open House. Assignment of these duties shall be at the discretion of the principal.
Professional Duties. Professional duties defined in this Article identify the responsibilities performed by full-time faculty. Duties specific to individual programs shall be determined by the supervising administrator.
Professional Duties. Unit members shall participate in the following professional duties: Back-To-School Night, Open House, student extra-curricular activities, I.E.P. teams, parent and student conferences, and Board approved and scheduled staff development days. Assignments for student extra-curricular activities (for example, sports, graduation) shall be equitably distributed among the unit members. Voluntary participation in other school related activities (for example, clubs) shall be taken into consideration when assignments are made. No unit member shall be required to remain at school past 4:00 p.m. for such duties except for events traditionally scheduled past that hour or in emergency situations.
Professional Duties. Absence without loss of pay to the teacher may be granted by the principals, upon the approval of the Superintendent, for professional duties. The MEA will be granted up to twenty-five (25) release days to be used for Association business as needed. These days must have prior approval by the MEA President and the Board will pay substitute cost. An additional 20 days will be granted for OEA/NEA elected or appointed officials to perform duties required of their office. No one person shall receive more than ten (10) days. The district will retain any reimbursement for the cost of substitutes from the OEA/NEA for these days.
Professional Duties. The Resident shall provide clinical services that are:
(a) commensurate with his/her level of experience and knowledge;
(b) under appropriate supervision; and
(c) at sites selected by the Director of the Program (the “Program Director”), which may include medical institutions other than Sinai (each, a “Participating Institution”).
Professional Duties. As a doctor the GPStR must have at the forefront of his or her professional practice the principles of Good Medical Practice for the benefit of safe patient care. GPStRs should be aware that Good Medical Practice (2013)) requires doctors to keep their knowledge and skills up to date throughout their working lives. As a doctor the GPStR should ensure that they will give care to patients responsive to their needs, that is equitable, respects human rights, challenges discrimination, promotes equality and maintains the dignity of patients and carers. The GPStR should acknowledge that as an employee within a health care organisation he or she accepts the responsibility to work effectively as an employee for that organization. This includes honoring contractual obligations as defined in the contract of employment, by participating in work place based assessment (and appraisal) and by agreeing to the need to share information about his or her performance as a doctor in training with other employers involved in his or her training and with the Postgraduate Xxxx of HEKSS. The GPStR must support the development and evaluation of their training programme by actively participating in the national annual GMC trainee survey and HEKSS GP School’s evaluative processes.
