Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank. A. Purpose of the Bank The purpose of the Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank (hereafter referred to as the Bank) is to provide sick leave to teachers who have contributed to the Bank (“members”) after their accumulated leave has been exhausted and more specifically to provide such leave from the Bank in cases of prolonged illnesses. The Bank rules and guidelines are as follows.
Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank. 1. The purpose of the Catastrophic Illness Bank is to relieve any person in the bargaining unit or administrator from undue financial burdens as a result of an absence from work due to illness or injury resulting in major disability. This means that the teacher is disabled and unable to perform the duties of employment.
Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank. 1. Purpose The Catastrophic Illness, (CI) Leave Bank is a continuous year to year entity, the purpose of which is to relieve teachers from undue financial burdens as a result of a catastrophic family illness event. A “catastrophic illness event” shall be defined as an acute or prolonged illness considered to be life-threatening or with the threat of serious residual disability. The catastrophic illness days may be used by a teacher to care for their spouse, child(ren), parent(s), or any person living as a member of the household of the teacher. A teacher must use all of his/her paid and accumulated leave days before this provision is granted. The CI Leave Bank Committee will require the applying teacher to provide proper Family Medical Leave (FMLA) paperwork.
Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank. 1. Sick Leave Bank shall be renamed Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank, governing rules can be found in the Catastrophic Illness document in Appendix F.

Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank. 1. A catastrophic illness leave bank exists for the benefit of all certified employees of the School Corporation.

Catastrophic Illness Leave Bank. 1. Use Of Catastrophic Leave Bank Employees may receive paid leave up to a maximum of three (3) months by using hours accrued in the leave bank for the employee’s catastrophic illness defined in Paragraph 3 below. Employees may also receive up to a maximum of one (1) month’s paid leave under this section for the catastrophic illness of an immediate family member as defined in Paragraph 3 below. To be eligible for paid catastrophic illness leave from the bank, the employee must have exhausted all accrued sick leave, compensatory time, and vacation time. Use of this benefit is subject to hours available in the leave bank. All requests under this section must be in writing and submitted to the President and CEO for approval and are subject to their discretion. Evidence of medical condition must accompany the request. If FMLA/CFRA leave is applicable, catastrophic leave will be concurrent with FMLA/CFRA leave. Catastrophic leave shall not be used to extend an FMLA/CFRA leave beyond the terms listed in this Paragraph.
