Designated Teachers Clause Samples
Designated Teachers. In the absence of the principal a vice-principal or a Head Teacher, the principal shall appoint a teacher to act on his/her behalf.
i) A teacher shall not be assigned as a Designated Teacher for more than three consecutive school days except with the approval of the Local. Such assignment shall not exceed 20 school days in a school in a school year.
ii) No teacher shall be appointed as a Designated Teacher without his/her consent.
Designated Teachers. A designated teacher shall receive an allowance of 10% of his/her regular per diem rate of pay for each day served as a designated teacher. The allowance shall be prorated for partial days.
Designated Teachers. It is understood that the term “Designated Teacher” is consistent with the position outlined in PPM 145 with regard to the delegation of authority. In the absence of the Principal, or Vice-Principal, the Principal shall appoint a teacher to act on his/her behalf.
i) A teacher shall not be assigned as a Designated Teacher for more than three consecutive school days except with the approval of the Unit. Such assignment shall not exceed 20 school days in a school in a school year.
ii) No teacher shall be appointed as a Designated Teacher without his/her consent.
Designated Teachers. The designated teacher shall be paid one-half per diem for each half day and per diem for each full day of the administrative allowance, only in the absence of the Principal/Administrator and the vice-principal.
Designated Teachers. (a) Teacher in Charge
(i) The parties recognize that from time to time school administrators (Principals and Vice-Principals) may be absent temporarily from their duties. To accommodate these situations, a Teacher may be designated a “Teacher in Charge” at a school. It is understood that this clause does not necessarily mean that the Teacher in Charge has been assigned these duties on every occasion that the Principal or Vice-Principal is away from the school, but only on those occasions where the duties have been specifically assigned.
(ii) A “Teacher in Charge” will remain a member of the bargaining unit for the duration of the duties assigned and will retain all rights and privileges accorded under the terms of the Collective Agreement.
(iii) “Teacher in Charge” shall be compensated at the daily rate of $20.00 for each full day, where the Teacher has been specifically assigned these duties. Where the Principal specifically assigns these duties for a partial day, this payment shall be pro-rated.
(iv) Such assignments shall not exceed five consecutive school days except with the approval of the Association. Such assignments shall not exceed thirty (30) school days in total per year per school.
(v) Any Teacher assigned such duties shall not participate in the evaluation of another member of this bargaining unit.
(vi) No Teacher shall be assigned without his or her consent
(vii) After the second full consecutive day of fulfilling these duties, the Teacher in Charge will be given the same release time as is available for the Principal in question. Where more favourable release time is granted before two full consecutive days, this is done on a without prejudice basis.

Designated Teachers. For each school, a teacher shall be designated by the Division to act as Principal during the absence of the Principal (where there is no Vice-Principal), or when both the Principal and are absent. Effective the day of the Fall Term the designated teacher shall receive six hundred and forty-four ($644)dollars per year to act as the designate. Effective the day of the Fall Term the designated teacher shall receive six hundred and sixty-three ($663) dollars per year to act as the designate. In circumstances where the Principal, Vice-principal (where appointed) and designated teacher are all absent from the school for one-half a school day or more, then the Principal will appoint a teacher to acting Principal and such person will receive effective the day of the Fall Term forty-six ($46)dollars per occasion for such duty and effective the day of the Fall Term forty-eight ($48) dollars per occasion for such duty.
