FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE. 18.01 The parties recognize the principle that all teachers should have a working environment free from physical violence, verbal abuse or the threat of physical assault and both parties shall make reasonable efforts to maintain this goal.
18.02 This section is subject to The Public Schools Act and regulations thereto and The Workplace Safety and Health Act and regulations thereto and is not intended to abrogate any management rights with respect to the student disciplinary process.
18.03 Teachers shall not have the right to grieve individual student disciplinary decisions made by the school administration.
FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE. 1. The parties support the desire of teachers to work in an environment that is free from violence, threats of violence and intimidation.
2. For the purposes of this Article, violence refers to the attempted, threatened or actual exercise by any person of any physical force causing physical injury to a teacher. Intimidation refers to threatening behaviour by any person which gives a teacher substantial reason to believe that they are at risk of violence.
3. Incidents of violence, threats of violence or intimidation experienced by teachers shall be reported to the Superintendent or designate and shall be investigated jointly by the Superintendent, or designate, and the President of the Association, or designate, who shall be empowered to make joint recommendations to the Board regarding the corrective action which should be taken.
4. Nothing in this Article reduces in any way the authority of the Principal/Vice Principal to deal with situations of violence in their schools.
FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE. (a) The Association and the Division recognize the principle that all individuals are entitled to have a working environment free from physical violence, verbal abuse or the threat of physical assault and both parties shall make reasonable efforts to maintain this goal.

(c) Employees shall not have the right to grieve individual student disciplinary decisions made by the School Administration.
FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE. (1) All teachers are entitled to a working environment free from physical violence, verbal abuse, or the threat of physical assault. An abusive, violent, and/or threatening student shall be immediately removed from the work environment. The student shall be returned to the working environment only after corrective measures have been taken.

(3) A teacher shall not have the right to grieve individual student disciplinary decisions made by school administration.
FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE. The Division and Association recognize the importance of a caring school environment that is orderly, supportive and non-violent. The and learning environment should be free from physical or emotional abuse. Physical abuse shall mean acts of violence against a person, the person’s family and the person’s possessions. Emotional abuse consists of obscene gestures, verbal abuse, threats of physical abuse and harassment. incidents of abuse will be treated with confidence and dealt with through Divisional Policy. This section is subject to The Public Schools Act and regulations thereto and is not intended to abrogate any management rights with respect to the student disciplinary process. Teachers shall not have the right to grieve individual student disciplinary decisions made by the Division.
FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE. 27.01 The parties recognize the principle that all teachers in the Garden Valley School Division should have a working environment free from physical violence, emotional or sexual abuse or harassment, and the threat of physical assault and both parties shall make reasonable efforts to maintain this goal.
27.02 This section is subject to The Public Schools Act and regulations thereto and is not intended to abrogate any management rights with respect to the student disciplinary process.
27.03 Teachers shall not have the right to grieve individual student disciplinary decisions made by the school administration.
27.04 If an act of student violence results in a student suspension, the offended member of staff shall, in consultation with and the approval of the principal, have the option of attending the re-entry meeting with the student.

Incidents of abuse will be dealt with through the involvement of the teacher(s), principal, superintendent, parent(s), board, etc. as appropriate.
