Disruptive Students. Employees who are faced with disruptive students shall follow the laws of the State of Michigan and the policies of the Coldwater Board of Education. All employees shall be advised as to the laws and policies concerning student discipline. Any case of assault upon an employee shall be promptly reported to the building principal/supervisor. The District will advise the employee of his/her rights and obligation to said assault and may give legal assistance in conjunction with handling of the incident by law enforcement and judicial authorities providing the employee has not gone beyond the district's expectations for job performance.
Disruptive Students. Teachers shall be protected from disruptive students in accordance with law and with procedures outlined in Appendix G of this Agreement.
Disruptive Students. When in the judgment of a professional educator, a student’s behavior is seriously disrupting the instructional program to the detriment of other students, the professional educator may temporarily exclude the student from the classroom, immediately notifying the administrator/office of such exclusion, and refer him/her directly to the school office. The principal, or other designated administrator, shall be responsible for arranging, as soon as possible, a conference between the interested parties to discuss the problem and decide upon appropriate steps for its resolution. The professional educator shall be provided a written response of the action taken on the referral. During the period of exclusion, the student shall not be the responsibility of the professional educator unless otherwise specified.
Disruptive Students. 7:2.1 As reflected in the prevailing Student Code of Conduct, an employee may remove from class or wherever disruptive behavior occurs, a student whose misbehavior or disruptive behavior makes the continued presence of the student in the classroom or wherever disruptive behavior occurs intolerable or detrimental to the other students. This will also include pre-school students not covered by the Student Code of Conduct. This student will be directed to an area designated by the building administrator. Unless specifically created for that purpose, or unless previously arranged by the affected teachers, or in case of extreme emergencies, where no other supervised areas is available, no employee's class will be used as a place to send disruptive students for disciplinary reasons or as a holding area for unsupervised students. This will include libraries and study halls. A student so excluded will be returned to class only after the building administrator or designee confers with the student and takes appropriate action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Normally, when the student is returned to class, the employee will be informed as to what action has been taken. Additionally, when a written referral has been submitted, employees will be informed in writing within five (5) working days as to what action the administrator has taken.
7:2.2 When disciplining students, the building administrator or designee will take appropriate action as specified by the Board's Student Code of Conduct.
7:2.3 Student discipline records will be maintained in appropriate electronic databases. It is not the intent of this section to deny information to a teacher concerning prior disciplinary matters, intervention strategies, etc., regarding students who are chronically disruptive in that teacher's classroom.
Disruptive Students. Any student who is dismissed from school because of disruptive behavior will be accompanied on the bus by a qualified person.
Disruptive Students. When, in the judgment of a member, after exhausting all appropriate classroom remedies, a student's behavior seriously disrupts the instructional program to the detriment of other students, the member may request temporary removal of the student from the classroom and refer the student to the temporary custody of the immediate supervisor or the building principal. In such cases, the member's immediate supervisor shall arrange as soon as possible, and under normal circumstances, not later than the conclusion of the following day, a conference among the appropriate parties to discuss the problem with the objective of solving it. If said member objects to readmission of the student to the classroom, the matter shall, within twenty-four (24) hours or within a reasonable time, be referred to the appropriate Cabinet member who shall meet with the parties concerned and render a final decision.
Disruptive Students. When, in the judgment of the teacher, a student is, by his/her behavior, seriously disrupting the instructional program to the detriment of other students, the teacher may temporarily exclude the student from the classroom and refer him/her to the principal. Such exclusion is subject to an IEP, Section 504 requirements or a behavior plan which may be in place for certain students. Legal requirements in state and/or federal law, and these documents, may prevent exclusion in certain cases. Prior to return to the classroom in such cases, the principal or his/her representative shall arrange, under normal circumstances not later than the conclusion of the following school day, a conference among him/herself, the teacher and possibly an appropriate specialist to discuss the problem and decide upon appropriate steps for its resolution. When a teacher removes a student from the room, he/she shall remain in the responsibility of the teacher until the teacher informs the principal or his/her representative.
Disruptive Students. 6:2.1 In accordance with the Colonial School District Student Code of Conduct, an employee may request an administrator or designee to remove a student from his/her classroom when the disruptive behavior or continued presence of that student is detrimental to the learning of other students. The office should be notified immediately of a student who must be removed from class, and normally, the student should be escorted from the classroom by an administrator or designee. A student so removed shall be returned to class only after administrative adjudication of the problem. Written notification of such adjudication shall be given to the employee within three (3) school days. The parties recognize that it is not desirable, except in cases of emergencies, to use an employee’s classroom or library as a place to send disruptive students or as a holding area for unsupervised students unless mutually agreed upon.
6:2.2 Any employee who believes that the Student Code of Conduct was not applied properly can file a complaint with the building principal or their designee. If the employee is not satisfied with the response of the building principal/designee, he/she may request review of the complaint with their immediate supervisor.
6:2.3 A copy of all written discipline reports along with the resolution will be placed in the student’s file and will be cumulative for the current school year. Employees will have access to all discipline records of students they teach, or of students referred by the teacher to the administrator for discipline reasons on a need-to-know basis as decided by the administration.
Disruptive Students. 8.2.1 Pursuant to the Student Code of Conduct, with proper documentation an employee may remove from class or whenever disruptive behavior occurs, a student whose misbehavior or disruptive behavior makes the continued presence of the student in the classroom intolerable or detrimental to the other students. This student will be directed to an area that has been designated by the building administrator. Unless specifically created for that purpose or in case of extreme emergencies where no other supervised area is available, no employee’s class will be used as a place to send disruptive students for disciplinary reasons or as a holding area for unsupervised students. This will include libraries and study halls. A student so excluded will be returned to class after the building administrator or designee confers with the student and takes appropriate action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Normally, when the student is returned to class, the employee will be informed as to what action has been taken. Additionally, when a written referral has been submitted, employees will be informed by the administrator or the designee in writing within five (5) business days as to the status of the disciplinary referral.
A. When disciplining students, the building administrator or designee will take appropriate action as specified by the Student Code of Conduct.
B. Upon request, employees will have access to all discipline records of students they teach or students referred by the teacher to the Administration for discipline reasons. It is not the intent of this section to deny information to a teacher concerning prior disciplinary matters, intervention strategies, etc., regarding students who are chronically disruptive in that teacher’s classroom.
Disruptive Students. Any student that is dismissed from school because of disruptive, irrational, or unsafe behavior will not be permitted to ride the bus.
