Duration of Appointments. Unless otherwise specified the duration of a Letter of Appointment is one semester. When departmental needs dictate, a NTT faculty member may be awarded an academic or fiscal year contract at the discretion of a Department Head with the approval of the Xxxx. Consistent with BOR Policy 702.1, NTT faculty have no expectation of reappointment or renewal of the appointment from semester to semester or year to year. NTT contracts are term contracts that automatically expire (without notice) at the end of the contract term unless renewed prior to expiration. However, the administration will make every reasonable effort to inform NTT bargaining unit faculty as early as possible and (when possible) at least twenty
Duration of Appointments. The duration of appointments normally shall be for the following periods:
Duration of Appointments a. Part-Time Faculty 1 (“PTF1”) are probationary Employees. PTF1 shall normally hold terms of appointment of one semester. b. Renewal for subsequent semesters is at the discretion of the hiring Unit. c. Part-Time Faculty 2 (“PTF2”) who have taught two or more semesters (per three-semester academic year) will be given a multi-semester appointment at the same level of employment as in the previous academic year except as prevented in XVI.D.1 below. d. Part-Time Faculty 3 (“PTF3”) who has taught two or more semesters (per three- semester academic year) will be given a two-year appointment at least at the same level of employment as in previous academic years except as prevented by XVI.D.1 below. 7. Subject to Article XVI D., PTF2 who are available to teach the course(s) that they have previously taught, will be reappointed at that same level of employment as in the previous academic year. For PTF3, see XVI.A.5 above and XVI.B.3 below. 8. For purposes of this Article XVI, and except as modified by XVI.A.5 and XVI.B.3, “same level of employment” means the same course(s) and/or the same number of courses taught by the Part-Time Faculty Member in the previous academic year. However, where the course(s) or number of courses taught in the previous academic year was eliminated or reduced as a result of a Reduction of Work under XVI.D., “same level of employment” shall be determined by the course(s) and number of courses taught by the Part-Time Faculty Member in most recent academic year not affected by a Reduction of Work under XVI.D. 9. The specific job assignment will be provided in a letter of offer and will include the salary and the period of time for the work to be performed. The letter of offer will include PTF level, the salary commensurate with the highest PTF level the employee has achieved and the appropriate length of appointment for the PTF level as required by Article XVI.A.5 above. 10. Units will notify at least 70% of Employees of reappointment, reduced appointment, or non-reappointment by April 30 for the following fall, December 5 for the following winter, and April 1 for the following spring/summer semester. If such a notification is rejected by an Employee, the unit has no obligation to notify additional Employees.
Duration of Appointments. An assistant shall be appointed for a specific period of not less than one semester or for a special limited purpose. A "special limited purpose" appointment is employment that covers unforeseen needs that arise during a semester that may be for less than one semester. In all cases, employment ends at the expiration of the specific period as specified in the appointment letter or when the special limited purpose is completed.
Duration of Appointments. Graduate Assistants (Research) may be hired for periods of up to twelve (12) months. Contracts may be extended or renewed, but carry no implication of extension or renewal.
Duration of Appointments. (1) Regular employees will normally be appointed for a minimum of 2 years which period includes orientation (less language training) in the United States and authorized international travel under the contract except: (i) An appointment may be made for less than 2 years if the contract has less than 2 years but more than 1 year to run provided that if the contract is extended the appoint- ment shall also be extended to the full 2 years. This provision shall be reflected in the employment agreement prior to employment under this contract. (ii) When a 2-year appointment is not re- quired, appointment may be made for less than 2 years but in no event less than 1 year. (iii) When the normal tour of duty estab- lished for USAID personnel at a particular post is less than 2 years, then a normal ap- pointment under this contract may be of the same duration. (iv) When the contractor is unable to make appointments of regular employees for a full 2 years, the contractor may make appoint- ments of less than 2 but not less than 1 year, provided that such appointment is approved by the contracting officer. (2) Services required for less than 1 year will be considered short-term appointments and the employee will be considered a short- term employee.

Duration of Appointments. All appointments of Subject Coordinators and Grade-Level Coordinators will be for a two-year term initially, with annual one-year extensions to follow at the recommendation of the Superintendent.
