Entitlement to Floating Holiday. A benefits eligible employee will be credited with one floating holiday for use by December 31 of the current calendar year. New employees with an adjusted start date of October 1 or earlier will be credited with one floating holiday on their adjusted start date and then on January 1 thereafter; new employees hired after October 15 will not receive one until the next January. Unused floating holidays will not be carried over to the next calendar year or paid upon retirement or termination of employment. If unused, they will be forfeited.

Entitlement to Floating Holiday. A benefits eligible employee shall be credited with two 12-hour floating holidays for use by December 31 of the current calendar year. An employee working in the Fire/EMS Dispatch Supervisor position shall be credited with three 8-hour floating holidays for use by December 31 of the current calendar year. New employees with an Adjusted Hire Date of October 1 or earlier will be credited with one floating holiday on their Adjusted Hire Date; new employees hired after October 15 will not be credited until the next January. Unused floating holidays will not be carried over to the next calendar year or paid upon retirement or termination of employment. If unused, they will be forfeited. The floating holidays will be awarded based upon standard hours worked (e.g. 12- hour shift employees will receive a 12 hour floating holiday), except supervisor shall be awarded 8 hour floating holidays as described above. Floating holidays must be used in full shift increments. Supervisors may use additional leave banks to achieve 10 hours (full shifts) off. Floating holidays may be scheduled immediately following the vacation bid, based upon seniority. Floating holidays may also be scheduled when staffing levels are long. Floating holidays cannot be scheduled if it would result in overtime costs. Management may cancel non-bid floating holidays with a minimum of 48 hours of notice. Management may not cancel bid floating holidays. For the Fire/EMS Dispatch Supervisor, floating holidays will be submitted for approval to the Communications Division Chief. In the event management cancels a floating holiday, the employee may reschedule the day with approval of the Fire/EMS Dispatch Supervisor or the Communications Division chief. If, after the cancellation, there are no available shifts before the end of the year, the holiday hours will be cashed out at the employee's normal rate of pay.

  • Floating Holiday All employees except intermittent, emergency, and temporary employees shall also receive one (1) floating holiday each fiscal year of this Agreement. However, seasonal employees shall be eligible for only one (1) floating holiday per season and intermittent employees shall receive one (1) floating holiday each fiscal year of this Agreement if they complete ninety-one (91) working days in that fiscal year. Unless waived by the supervisor, the employee must request the floating holiday at least fourteen (14) calendar days in advance. The Appointing Authority may limit the number of employees that may be absent on any given day subject to the operational needs of the Appointing Authority. Any conflicts for requested holidays shall be resolved on the basis of State Seniority within the employee's work unit. The Appointing Authority shall make a reasonable effort to approve the requested holiday. Floating holidays may not be accumulated. An employee who has not requested the floating holiday by March 1 of each fiscal year or by thirty (30) calendar days prior to the end of an employee's season shall be scheduled to take a floating holiday on a day chosen by the Appointing Authority or be paid for the floating holiday in cash at the option of the Appointing Authority.

  • Floating Holidays In addition to the authorized days in 9.2. each employee, including each academic employee, shall be authorized two (2) floating holidays of his/her choice per fiscal year.

  • Special Holidays A Special Holiday is a holiday declared a holiday by the University for its employees other than a Saturday, Sunday, General (Statutory) Holiday or day declared by the University to be in lieu of a Statutory Holiday. The rate of pay for the Special Holiday shall be that which the employee would have received if she/he had worked.

  • Holiday Falling on Saturday or Sunday For an employee whose normal workweek is from Monday to Friday and when any of the above-noted holidays falls on a Saturday and is not proclaimed as being observed on another day, the following Monday will be deemed to be the holiday. When a holiday falls on a Sunday and it is not proclaimed as being observed on another day, the following Monday (or Tuesday, where the preceding section already applies), will be deemed to be the holiday for the purpose of this agreement.

  • Holiday Pay Entitlement To be entitled to receive a paid holiday, an eligible employee must be in payroll status on the normal work day immediately preceding and the normal work day immediately following the holiday(s). Payroll status shall be defined as follows: actually working, on paid vacation, paid sick leave, compensatory time off, or on a paid leave of absence. Any eligible employee who dies on a holiday or holiday weekend shall be entitled to be paid for the holiday(s).

  • Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day (December 25) Boxing Day (December 26) In addition to the above noted holidays, full-time employees will be eligible for two (2) floating holidays. The float holiday will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time prior to the end of the calendar year.

  • Annual Holidays (i) On completion of 12 months continuous service an employee shall be entitled to annual paid leave of 4 working weeks.

  • Holiday Entitlement Employees who are laid off within seven (7) working days (except employees subject to dismissal through cause) prior to a Statutory Holiday occurring shall be entitled to such Statutory Holiday with pay. Also, employees who are absent either the day before or the day after a Statutory Holiday or both shall be entitled to such Statutory Holiday with pay provided they are absent for a reason of illness or accident.
