Flexible Schedule adjustments and Compensatory Time Sample Clauses

Flexible Schedule adjustments and Compensatory Time. Beyond the foregoing limitations, such employees shall be responsible for determining the specific time and the professional functions performed consistent with their specific areas of responsibility. For example, an Instructor or Support Staff member who performs duties in the evening, on weekends or before duty time in the morning may adjust his schedule to leave the Career Center early on that or another day in the same work week when the Instructor or Support Staff member has no other responsibilities, subject only to the requirement that the employee shall first obtain administrative approval. Compensatory time off may be earned by instructors and support staff, with administrative approval, for extraordinary hours worked. In appropriate situations, compensatory time off will be earned on an hour for hour basis. On the rare occasions when unplanned circumstances cause business activities to extend into lunch periods or beyond the work day, compensation for such activities is included in the regular yearly salary and compensatory time will not be available. When the employee works more than three lengthy in-service events approved by the employer, the employee will earn compensatory time for time worked at events in excess of three events. (Note: The parties have a general understanding that annual salaries currently include compensation for ten (10) hours of extra duty per year.) Taking compensatory time off, shall be subject to prior approval by the Administration; however, employees may take compensatory time during planning periods by submitting proper documentation on the day it is taken. At the end of each school year unused full days of approved compensatory time, for which it has not been possible to schedule mutually agreeable full days off, may be converted to sick leave and added to the Instructor’s or Support Staff member’s personal accumulation or be carried over as compensatory time to the next school year.
