FUNERAL LEAVE AND EMERGENCY LEAVE. 12.1: For purposes of attending the funeral of a member of an employee's immediate family, a seniority employee shall receive a leave of absence of three (3) work days during the period commencing on the day of death and ending on the day after the funeral. A seniority employee shall be granted one (1) additional day with pay if the place of the funeral is 200 miles or more from the Birmingham City Hall. For purposes of this section, immediate family means current wife, current husband, child, stepchild, brother, sister, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, and grandchild. For a funeral of one other than a member of the immediate family which because of extenuating circumstances the seniority employee's Department Head believes is appropriate for the employee to attend, the Department Head may make a request of the City Manager for approval to grant up to one (1) day off with pay to attend such person's funeral.

FUNERAL LEAVE AND EMERGENCY LEAVE. SECTION 1. Upon the death of a member of a seniority employee's immediate family (defined as current spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters, sisters or brothers-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, and other close relations as agreed upon by the parties) employee shall notify Village Manager of the necessity of funeral leave immediately upon discovery that such leave is required and shall be granted up to three (3) working days for such leave, one of which must be to attend the funeral. The employee must attend the funeral. The employee must attend the funeral, and if requested, present proof of death, to be eligible for pay of lost work time. An employee excused from work under this Section shall receive the amount of wages she would have earned by working straight time hours on such scheduled days of work (up to eight (8) hours) per working day for which she is excused for any of the above days which fallon a regular working day, Monday through Friday, inclusive. Payment shall be made at the employee's base rate of pay, not including overtime or any premiums, as of her last day worked.

  • Funeral Leave Section 30.1 In the event of the death of a parent, spouse, child, sister, brother, mother-in- law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent of the Employee or spouse, grandchild of the Employee, or “xxxxxx” or “step” situations within these relationships, the Employee shall be allowed a leave of absence with pay of two (2) consecutive (eight or ten hour) workdays.

  • Personal Emergency Leave 1. A teacher will be granted up to five (5) days of leave per year to cover situations other than personal illness beyond the control of the teacher which would significantly impair teaching service. Deductions from the gross pay of a teacher for this leave shall be made at the degreed substitute rate of pay for each day taken.

  • Personal Medical Leave 1. Accrued 100% sick leave may be used at the employee's discretion. Such leave may be taken before or after the vacation described in No. 3 below.

  • Medical Care and Emergency Leave An employee is entitled to a leave of absence without pay because of any of the following:

  • Emergency Leave Notwithstanding any provision for leave in this Agreement, the Employer may grant leave of absence with or without pay to an employee in emergency or unusual circumstances. Such leave will not be unreasonably denied.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.

  • General Leave Notwithstanding any provision for leave in this Agreement, the Employer may grant a leave of absence without pay to an employee requesting leave for an emergency or other unusual circumstances. A leave of absence may also be granted for any other reason in which case approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. All requests and approvals for leave shall be in writing. Upon request, the Employer will give reasons orally for withholding approval.

  • General Leaves When no other leaves are available, a leave of absence may be granted to an employee on a paid or unpaid basis at any time upon any terms acceptable to the District and an employee.

  • Personal Leaves 8.11.4.1 As approved by the Board, personal leaves without pay may be granted in cases of exceptional need for up to six (6) months. Any such leave exceeding one (1) semester shall not be counted toward tenure or promotion or for computing salary increments. These leaves may be extended by the PVPAA upon recommendation of the xxxx for up to one (1) year.

  • Personal/Xxxxx’s Leave 7.3.1 All full time employees shall be entitled to accrue paid personal / carer's leave on the basis of 10 days per year (or pro-rata thereof for any period less than one year). Part-time employees are entitled to a pro-rata benefit. Paid personal / carer's leave is cumulative.
