Grievance Committees. A committee of the Union Stewards for each university as listed below shall be appointed by the Union to act as a grievance committee. The committee shall discuss employee grievances for the purpose of achieving resolutions at the lowest possible level of the grievance procedure. The Union Stewards appointed to this committee shall be allowed one (1) hour on duty per month for committee meetings, without loss of pay and benefits provided time off is prescheduled with the supervisor and activity is reported to the supervisor pursuant to Article 10 -

Grievance Committees. F. 2. a. Grievance Committees shall be composed of 3 tenured faculty negotiations unit members at the rank of Associate Professor or above, who are 100% in negotiations unit titles, selected at random from the pool that includes the unit in which the grievance arose, except that no person shall serve on a Grievance Committee for a case in which he/she has participated in the evaluation process, nor shall any person be obligated to serve on a grievance committee more than once every three years. A faculty member who holds a 100% negotiations unit title while performing the duties of an assistant or associate xxxx shall be removed from a grievance committee at any time before the grievance committee has rendered a written decision unless the grievant chooses to go forward. The AAUP-AFT shall notify the grievant of the committee's membership. The University and the AAUP-AFT shall jointly agree to the units comprising each of the grievance pools.
F. 2. b. Each Grievance Committee shall be constituted as soon as reasonably practicable following the filing of the final grievance statement. Within ten working days of constitution of the Committee, the grievant may challenge, in writing and stating the reason, the participation of any Grievance Committee member for cause. Such a challenge shall be directed to the University Representative by the AAUP-AFT. If the University and the AAUP-AFT cannot resolve the matter, it shall be referred to a faculty member selected jointly each year by the AAUP-AFT and the University. This individual shall receive only the grievant's written challenge and the University's written response, a copy of which shall be provided to the AAUP-AFT. The grievant may, within ten working days, provide a written rebuttal limited to points raised in the University response. The jointly selected faculty member shall render a final and binding decision within eight working days and shall notify the faculty member in case of removal.
F. 2. c. The members of each Grievance Committee shall designate one of their members as chairperson of the Committee.
F. 2. d. Faculty members selected to serve on a Grievance Committee shall participate in a joint University-AAUP-AFT briefing before being empaneled. The purpose of the briefing is to ensure that the Committee members understand the procedure and their role in the grievance process. Only persons who have participated in a briefing may serve on a Grievance Committee.

Grievance Committees. Employees selected by the Union to act as Union representatives shall be known as "stewards". The name of the employees selected as stewards, and the names of other Union representatives who may represent employees shall be certified in writing to the Employer by the local Union and the individuals so certified shall constitute the Union Grievance Committee. The Employer agrees to meet once a month, if requested in writing, with the Union Grievance Committee to discuss matters pertaining to items in this Agreement, providing the Union Grievance Committee submits a written agenda of items for discussion at least three (3) working days prior to the meeting date. Such meetings shall be held at a mutually agreeable time. The Employer, when necessary, may defer such meetings up to thirty (30) days for scheduling purposes.

Grievance Committees. The Union shall select representatives to handle grievances who shall serve as the Union Grievance Committee. This committee will consist of up to three (3) employees or Union officers/staff.
Grievance Committees. (1) Union Xxxxxxx shall be able to serve on the Grievance Committee, if requested by the Chief Xxxxxxx. Grievance Committees. 25 The Grievance Committee for the plant shall consist of not less than three (3) employees 26 nor more than ten (10) employees designated by the Union. The Union will certify to the 27 Company a list of all Grievance Committee members. The Union Committee 28 representative shall not handle any grievances arising outside of his respective 29 department or steps of the grievance procedure as set forth in Article 10 except when the 30 department union representative is not in the plant. The Grievance Committee members 31 will be afforded time off with pay after application to, and permission from, their 32 supervisor as may be required to take up matters pertaining to the settlement of 33 grievances. Time off for the above purpose will not be unreasonably withheld. 34 Authorized time spent by an employee involved in the grievance process shall not be 35 counted as time lost for computing eligibility qualifications for vacation purposes.
36 1. The Company agrees to pay the Union President and Safety Chairman at the 37 standard rate and shift differential, if any, of their job prior to assuming their full- 38 time Union duties. Such hours will be considered company paid union business. 39 Any work performed by such Union officials beyond their paid union business 40 will otherwise be compensated in accordance with this Agreement.
