Hot works. All welding, gas burning, brazing, grinding and other operations generating heat and sparks are not allowed to be carried out inside the halls and buildings. Where welding, gas burning, brazing, grinding and other operations generating heat and sparks are carried out outside the halls, buildings or offices must ensure that adequate precautions against damage to property or injury to persons by radiation, fire or hot metal are taken. The Department Supervisor or acting in capacity must advise DWTC Health and Safety in advance and secure approval of the nature of the work and to obtain a hot work permit issued by DWTC Health and Safety. The immediate Supervisor will be responsible for providing firefighting equipment and for surveillance where there is a fire hazard.

Hot works. 3.8.1. When performing hot work, the Contractor and the subcontractors engaged by the Contractor should be guided by the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation, as well as the requirements of the LafargeHolcim Russia Group regarding hot work set forth in this Agreement and other regulatory documents. 3.8.2. Before starting hot work, the Contractor should take measures to ensure safety during hot work by preparing the risk assessment form for contract work and draw up a permit to work. Period of validity of the permit to perform hot work may not exceed 7 days. 3.8.3. If it is necessary to arrange a stationary welding station on the territory of the Customer, the conditions for the arranging of such a station should be agreed with the Coordinator of the Customer. Subject to the written confirmation by the Coordinator that the stationary welding station of the Contractor comply with the safety requirements adopted by the LafargeHolcim Russia Group, the requirement to draw up a permit to perform hot work at this welding station can be canceled. 3.8.4. When performing hot work, the Contractor should take measures to limit access of people and vehicles to the hazardous area (by installing fencing of hazardous area, warning signs), including lower levels, where there is a possibility of falling of molten metal, scale, etc. 3.8.5. When performing hot work using gas cylinders, the Contractor and the subcontractors engaged by the Contractor during performing work should be guided by the "Regulations of industrial safety for hazardous industrial facilities using equipment operated under over pressure" (Order of the Rostekhnadzor No. 116 "On the approval of Federal standards and regulations in the field of industrial safety" dated 25.03.2014) 3.8.6. Storage conditions for gas cylinders should meet the following requirements: - empty and intact cylinders should be stored separately and separated by a rigid structure or wall; - all cylinders should be stored in an upright position, be fixed or tied by a chain; - cylinders with flammable gas should be stored at a distance of at least 7 meters from cylinders with compressed non-combustible gas. With regard to substances for which the legislation of the Russian Federation establishes more stringent requirements, the minimum distance should be increased. 3.8.7. Hot works. Any job involving naked flame or any job involving/creating spark or high heat are termed as Hot Works and a valid Hot Work Permit must be obtained for such jobs. This is required to be renewed in every shift. It has to be ensured that the area where such job is to be carried out is free from combustible materials.

If such work will be carried out outside the hall or offices, adequate precautions against damage to property or injury to persons must be considered at all time. The Acting party must advise the venue management in advance of such work. The immediate Supervisor will be responsible for providing firefighting equipment if this work is a fire hazard.
Hot works. Even when a gas free atmosphere exists care must be taken when carrying out hot works in close proximity to gas plant in order to ensure that no damage occurs. Particular care must be taken to avoid damage by heat or naked flames to plastic gas pipes or to the protective coatings on other pipes.

Contractors will include an assessment of fire risk as part of their general risk assessment. Suitable screens or mats must be used to limit or prevent the spread of by-products of hot working. The Contractor shall suitable and sufficient fire extinguishers or fire blankets which will be readily usable at the point of work. The site will provide the Contractor with any local procedures for welding and burning. The Contractor must comply with these documents. Where appropriate, the site will prepare and issue a safety document granting consent for hot working. On completion of hot working, a thorough inspection of the workplace shall be carried out to ensure that there is no smouldering of any combustible materials. A similar check must be carried out one hour after work cessation.
