Improper Use of Sick Leave. If a supervisor has reason to believe that an employee is improperly using sick leave, the supervisor should express his or her concern to the employee and give the employee an opportunity toexplaintheabsence(s) in question. The supervisor should explain the leave requirements and how and when sick leave is to be taken. Ifa pattern of sick leave usage or requests continues, the supervisor must consult with the Office of Human Capital and Talent Management, Employee and Labor Relations (HCTM/ELR). With the concurrence of ELR, the employee may be issued a memo of leave restriction explaining the reasons for the restriction andrequiring that, until the general leave situation improves, all future requests for sick leave be accompanied by acceptable medical documentation. In situations when the employee has not requested Union representation, a copy of the leave restriction memo, sanitized In accordance with the Privacy Act, will be provided to AFGE. An initial period of leave restriction will not exceed one year. If after this initial period the reasons for the leave restriction persist, the supervisor may extendthe leave restriction past one year, after obtaining the concurrence of ELR. Conversely, an employee whose record has improved remarkably since the restriction was imposed may request that the supervisor review the record and remove the restriction after six (6) months has elapsed.

Improper Use of Sick Leave. A. Any Employee scheduled to work on a holiday who reports sick shall be charged sick leave with pay for the number of hours that comprise the holiday.

An employee may not use vacation or personal leave credits to supplement Workers’ Compensation.

  • Donation of Sick Leave The District shall allow unit members to donate sick leave to individual employees who have suffered long-term disabilities or illnesses. Donating unit members shall retain a thirty (30) day balance of sick leave after their donation and may donate no more than twenty-five (25) days of sick leave per year. The donation form is Appendix I. Part-time faculty may receive sick leave donations from any employee, and may donate accumulated sick leave to other part-time faculty following the same requirements as outlined above. Part-time faculty may not donate sick leave to full- time employees.

  • Utilization of Sick Leave Employees who have accrued paid leave time shall be eligible for paid leave for any period of absence from employment which includes but is not limited to the employee’s illness; injury; temporary disability; medical or dental care; or to attend to members of the employee’s or the employee’s spouse’s immediate family or domestic partner or domestic partner’s immediate family, where the employee’s presence is required because of illness or as otherwise required by the state or federal Family Medical Leave Act or other State law. The Employer may, in its sole discretion, require reasonable proof of illness or disability and/or certification of the necessity of the employee’s absence.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Sick Leave/Personal Leave 1. Each member of the bargaining unit who is regular full-time, in an active pay status, is eligible for ten (10) days of sick leave and three (3) days of personal leave annually. No member of the bargaining unit shall lose the accumulated allowance of unused days of sick leave/personal leave by reason of having been absent for a period without pay, nor shall the employee accumulate any additional days of allowance during the absence. Faculty members needing to use sick/personal days shall fill out the requisite forms according to official College procedures.

  • Definition of Sick Leave Sick leave means the period of time an Employee is absent from work because of disability due to illness or injury not covered by Workers’ Compensation.
