Initial Calculation of Years of Experience for Teachers Newly Hired at Argo. Years of experience shall be defined as how many years a teacher has taught in grades 6 through 12 prior to teaching at Argo Community High School. Experience for outside teaching at an accredited school shall be allowed at the rate of full credit for the first eight (8) years and half credit for the next ten (10) years. In determining years of experience, a fractional part of a full year of experience will not be credited for new hires. Total years of experience for a newly employed teacher shall not exceed thirteen (13) years. Years of experience for military service are limited to a maximum of two (2) years. New hires may be granted salary credit for experience up to thirteen (13) years of past service by considering the pay level of teachers currently employed at Argo High School with the same years of service. The Administration has discretion to offer new hires with relevant experience a salary within the “Salary Range for New Hires with Relevant Experience.” The minimum salary in this range shall be determined by identifying a teacher currently employed at Argo with the same educational background (BA, MA, MA+30/MSW, or MA+60) who has three (3) fewer years teaching experience than the new hire in question. The maximum salary in this range shall be determined by identifying a teacher currently employed at Argo with the same educational background and the same years of teaching experience. In no circumstances shall a new hire with experience be offered a greater salary than a teacher currently employed with the same educational background and years of experience. An Excel spreadsheet that designates salaries, educational attainment, and years of teaching service credit (both at Argo High School and credit awarded for outside experience) of all teachers shall be shared with the Union on September 1 and March 1 of each academic year. TRS Contribution‌ The Board agrees to contribute on behalf of each teacher to the Teacher Retirement System (TRS), as part of and out of the teacher’s total earnings, the employee contribution as required by Section 16-152.1 of the Illinois Pension Code. If legislation is enacted that changes the requirements for this contribution during the term of this Agreement, the parties agree to discuss the impact of such changes.
